Poor format 10 Jan 2011

Format:Kindle Edition
I have downloaded the Kindle version of the "Adventure of Wisteria Lodge". Whilst I have no problem with the story, the Kindle format version is very poor. Every other line has between 2 and 4 words on it, making reading difficult. I would not recommend downloading this version

This is a very short about the great detective. It's not one that I've read before, so I was looking forward to it. As it happens it is typical of Conan Doyle's writing and is an interesting mystery. I would have given the story 4 stars, but for a major problem.

The transcriber has made a huge error and as a result, the text is formatted in such a way that the lines don't match the shape of the kindle page. You can still read the story, but it is a bit difficult and can take some work. It doesn't seem to matter what you do to alter the font size, orientation etc. the text still comes out wrong, with some lines of only a few words, every other line.

As it's free, you won't lose anything if you decide to download it, but if I had paid for this, I would be requesting my money back as it really is not satisfactory. There are other books, and there are other sources for this particular book and you would be better off with almost anything else.

For what it's worth, I have contacted customer services over this; they haven't confirmed that the book with be re-done, but there is a possibility that they will sort it out. For that reason, it might be worth seeing if they have corrected the issue.

As the other reviewers have pointed out, this version of The Adventures of Wisteria Lodge has been poorly formatted for Kindle.

However such is the strength of the writing and the absorbing quality of the story that you may, after a while, find yourself able to overcome the constant line breaks after every sentence, or at least become accustomed to them. It's a free story and not very long, so if you can manage the formatting it's in your favour.

Formatting not withstanding this is yet another fantastic tale of Sherlock Holmes and his faithful companion Dr. Watson.
