Raised and educated in England, after graduation I set off for Africa as part of an Operation Raleigh Expedition. Post expedition I trained and worked as a Learner Professional Hunter / Guide with Kumuna Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe and then as an Environmental Educator with the Wildlife Society of South Africa.
I set up Big Bad Wolf Design in Zimbabwe and after a few years of working both there and in the UK, my family set off for East Africa where I started the Africa 4x4 Cafe. The Africa 4x4 Cafe is a web-based resource promoting Self-Drive 4x4 Safaris in East and Southern Africa. The Africa 4x4 Cafe also acts as a marketplace for post-expedition vehicles stranded in Africa and elsewhere. I'm also a contributing author of the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook: A Route and Planning Guide and the Overlanders' Handbook: Worldwide Route & Planning Guide.
I will be pleased to share this knowledge and expertise with those of you who are about to embark on what is sure to be the "experience of a lifetime". Doing an overland safari in Africa, especially if inexperienced and unsupported, may be a bit daunting, and in fact this may even be the reason that your dream never gets off the ground, but with my help, you won't have to worry. I'll help you source, value & purchase an appropriate vehicle; aid with the paperwork: transfer of logbook, insurance, carnet etc. and then help plan your ultimate overland adventure.
