I have two of these - the problem with the design is that the light cycles through the two white light levels before getting to the red. As a result anyone in range loses their night vision due to the white light before you get to the Red Light position. The Petzl design is better in that it goes to the red position first and then the next press turns it off ( assuming you wait for a couple of seconds). However the Petzl is a lot more expensive. The best option is the cheaper energizer model with a switch that slides one way for red and the other way for white.
The plastic around the strap also broke on one of mine - I have fixed it with Araldite but should not really need to.
Light performance in white is very good however red is a bit bright for close up work with no facility to dim it.

Red light is great for getting around in the dark without annoying anyone and the white LEDS illuminate a good distances unlike some of the cheaper options i have used before. Great for traveling.

The head torch is as described and does a fantastic job. Particularly getting logs from the barn in the dark when you need both hands and can't free a hand to hold a torch.
Use for anything needing two hands and still needing light, it really works.

Bright Head Light
This is a well made article solid strong water resistant. It is worth the fairly high price but the switch selector is slightly stiff.
