This set does have its strong points. Some of the pieces are quite large, they are all individually labelled, and you get a few unusual bits, like a piece of mammoth bone, a fairly large auroch's bone etc... will have to keep that one away from the dog because it looks ever so much like one of the bones from the local pet shop - don't take that as a complaint though - it looks like a chunk of cow bone because it is very close to just that - a bit of bone from a prehistoric ancestor of modern cattle.

However, some bits are not so good - the bag of triceratops bone was more like crumbs of dinosaur bone, but then I didn't expect much as they advertised this as a free extra. The coprolite was smashed by the heavy aurochs bone on top, but I have plenty of this from other sets. This set loses one star for careless packaging as there was obviously damage in transit to some of the pieces.

The big issue though is that the star of this collection is a beautiful split ammonites worth about £10 which you can see clearly pictured in the amazon ad. But don't expect to get it. Read the fine print - they can substitute for a " or a LARGE polished Goniatite 5cm to 7cm" or perhaps 3 cm as in our case. I have a better specimen purchased for £2 from a local museum. I really think this is a bit of bait and switch, and a huge disappointment for any child who actually seen this ad. I have ended up keeping this and buying the split ammonite elsewhere, as I promised my son the set - and I can't get the mammoth or predatorial dinosaur bone easily elsewhere, but I would not purchase from this company again, especially as they can not be bothered to respond to emails. I'm just glad I waited for the first set to arrive before ordering more, as I had considered buying other fossils from this company.
