I recently borrowed 'Play Winning Chess' by the same author, in which the game is explained to the novice player.
In that book is a section entitled 'Beyond The Basics', for anyone who knows how to play the game, but needs extra tips to give them the edge. I thought how handy it would be to have the book, but dispense with the earlier chapters for the beginner.
Well, I was quite pleased to discover this book, which does just that: each aspect is lucidly explained with enough diagrams to break up the text, so you don't have to concentrate too hard on what moves have been played.
Also covers sections on Computer Chess, How to Study, and Correspondence Chess.
Recommended.
