This poncho will keep you dry once, and then you'll probably have to throw it away. As it's very very thin and cheap fabric, it's liable to tear easily, and it will be a pain drying it out on a windy day as it will fly all over the place and stick together in wet folds. Being thin fabric, when wet it sort of sticks together, too, and isn't easy to handle. And it definitely can't withstand a strong wind. And no way is it tough enough to take regularly along for fishing or backpacking. It's more of an emergency one-off light-weight poncho. It doesn't even have a carrying case. I think you are meant to stick it in your rucksack as bought, in its own packaging, and you're supposed to take it out and use it as a one-off if you get caught in a shower without a proper jacket.

By the way, to get to the product, you have to cut open the packaging with a knife or scissors -- and the packaging is made of a much sturdier and heavier material than the poncho itself!

The blurb says you can use this as a groundcloth, but it could easily tear and it's not thick enough to keep serious moisture out like a proper groundcloth. I guess you could use it in a pinch as a layer, or as something to fold up and sit on if the ground is a bit wet.

For the price, I knew it wasn't going to be top notch, but I genuinely didn't think it would be this flimsy. My assessment is that this poncho is maybe worth about £2.99 tops, but I've seen stuff of this quality going for a pound or two at discount shops. Personally, I'd suggest spending an extra five pounds and picking up something a bit sturdier that you can use over and over again.

I've worn this poncho once when I was walking the dog. It was very disappointing and I wouldn't recommend it. It does an ok job of keeping the rain out but I hadn't realised how HOT it would be inside it as of course it isn't made of breathable fabric. I'm not sure I would wear it again. It's probably ok if you are sitting still but I wanted it as a lightweight waterproof to pop on over my clothing and small backpack when doing short, local walks.

This product does what it says on the tin! Kept me dry in a down pour. Generous sizing. Great Value for Money. I would recommend this product but not for the fashion victims.

I will be using this both to keep my body dry in the rain and to water-proof pockets of my bike panniers to keep items dry on bike tour as well.

Does what it says, and not just for fishing but any outdoor situation(s) where rain/water may be present!

Single use only, tears to bits, shoddy and not really worth it. Spend more money and buy something that lasts.

Excellent quality and value and extremely waterproof. Hood is large so it protects you from the wind and poncho is large enough to fit over your own coat with popper fastenings at the side. Be careful not to pull too hard though round the neck as it can tear.

This just about lasted three outings at Glastonbury. I mean three wearings over a couple of days, not three full festivals. I knew they were prone to falling apart at the neck so was careful but still apart it came. It was there when it needed to be so I appreciate that but it is effectively a disposable item so arguably far better to be eco-friendly and spend a bit more for something than is genuinely re-useable. I did find that it's lifespan was enhanced with liberal application of duct tape. You'll look like you've gone a few rounds with Edward Scissorhands but you'll still be sort of dry.
