A subtle coming of age flick, that avoids all the general cliches and has some nice performances. Nicely paced, and fairly believable, I enjoyed it throughout. Cusack is pretty cool in it with the remaining cast all adequeatly holding their own

Story of a 22-year-old poet (Roberts) whose parents tell her they are not going to pay her bills any more. She gets a job at a porn shop and lives briefly with a cross-dresser then stalks her favorite author (Cusack). some witty dialog.

There once was a girl from New York
Who had never been porked
She worked at a job
Selling plastic knobs
Then she lost it all to a dork

Billy Collins said we all have about 200 bad poems in us. Middle school and high school is a good time to get it out of our system. Amy (Emma Roberts) has about 20,000 bad poems in her and thinks she is good. She majored in poetry acquiring no jobs skills, setting back her parents $90,000. Depressed, she moves out and gets a job at Adult World and hangs out with a crowd of fruits, nuts, and vegetables. Local poet Rat Billings (John Cusack) is her idol and she forces herself, to his dismay, into his life.

The film is another luke warm indie dying to be clever and finding an audience, which it has among would be poets. Amy's dreary life is symbolized by the dreary scenes of a depressed urban area in upstate New York. The actors saved a bad script. The use of a cross dressing gay (Armando Riesco) was funny in "The World According to Garp," but now it just shows lack of writing skill and originality which is what I really want in an indie.

A very fresh entertaining film, based around a naive college graduate who believes she's destined to be a great poet, begrudgingly accepts a job at a sex shop while she pursues a mentorship with reclusive writer Rat Billings. It was different than any other film i have watched yet, Emma Roberts delivered a very good performance, its a bit nutty in places but deserves to be watched. Not everyone's kinda film yet i did enjoy the qwerky style of the film.

Ignore the front cover. I have no idea why there is a stripper pole in it. Emma Roberts character is a prude who wants to be a poet but ends up working in a porn shop to earn money. Great film, better than it looks. A mixture of comedic moments, coming of age -ish, romantic drama about growing and trying to be better.

This is a really lovely film. I love Evan Peters. John Cusack is pretty good in this as well. Worth a watch if you like films about finding your feet in the world, and all that kinda stuff. Got a few laughs too.

This wasnt very entertaining, or very captivating. There was little to no plot and at the end it seemed all too pointless of a movie. Also, the cover art is not at all indicative of the theme of the movie. Emma Roberts is screeching and awful in this.
