Format:Audio CD
With the current media attention focussed on artists such as Angie Stone, Amel Larrieux and Macy Gray,it is high time that Adriana Evans' 1997 album was rescued from obscurity.For many soul fans this album summed up the phrase "new classic soul" - modern, sparse arrangements but musical and melodic, full of the spirit of true soul.There is not a bad track on the album and it remains fresh three years after its release.This is not a retro 70s project nor a black artist packaged for a rock audience,but a subtle and enchanting selection of contemporary soulful songs.Check it out!

Terrific 5-star debut R&B album from a, thus far, largely overlooked artist. There really are no dud tracks here. With the right exposure this could have been a landmark album and a huge hit. As it is, buy it, safe in the knowledge that your musical tastes are just that cut above the rest.

Format:Audio CD
The year was 1996 and Adriana was on GLR giving an interview about her forthcoming album. I remember speaking to a friend who asked me had I listened to the show and what were my impressions. I was completely blown away and until Feb 1997 when I finally got the CD I was searching high and low awaiting for the release. It didn't dissapoint and lived up to expectations. The only sad thing being that the rest of the music press ignored her and her label Loud didn't do much to promote her.
Adriana has a very sweet voice and the music is a more contemporary 70's/80's sound. From the opening track "Love is all around" to the closing "In the sun" there isn't a bad track. I really wouldn't want to name a favourite track as there are many. I still get the same listening pleasure from this CD today that I did in '97 and she should be up there with the Badu's, Stones et al. I wish that there was something up and coming soon but I haven't heard of anything imminent.
There is no hype about this release just pure unadulterated listening pleasure.
