About the Author

Sue Townsend became Britain's bestselling author of the 1980s with her books THE SECRET DIARY OF ADRIAN MOLE AGED 13 3/4 and THE GROWING PAINS OF ADRIAN MOLE. She is the author of seven other novels, including THE QUEEN AND I and GHOST CHILDREN, andmost recently her collected journalism, THE PUBLIC CONFESSIONS OF A MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN (AGED 55 3/4), was published in 2001. She is also well known as a playwright, and lives in Leicester.

Adrian Mole, 'The Wilderness Years', is Sue Townsends sixth book in this series, and yet again it falls into the comical, hilarious and colloquial category. Once again, Adrian (aged 23 years) has achieved comedian status as has enthrawled us with his extraordinary and unbelievable antics.

In my opinion, Adrian Mole has at last reached physical maturity, but again he cannot help roaming the pages like an untamed adolescent.

Without a doubt, this book is definately the best in the series, with more comedy and entertainment than ever before. I can guarantee that after reading the first ten pages, you will not be able to put the back on the shelf. If you don't believe me, buy it and you'll see.

This book follows on the life of Adrian Mole and is as funny as the previous Mole Books.The reason it is so good is that it makes you want to read on to find out what happens to him, it's hard to put down once you've started.He is someone you can laugh at and sympathsise with as life throws up all manor of problems for him. This book will make you laugh, cry and hoot all the way from the begining to the end. If you have got any of his other books or have never read any before read this book. Once you do you'll be hooked on them and you'll relish any chance to see how his life has continued.

Thank god for Sue Townsend. The Wilderness Years is a classic, enhancing it predercessers even more. Adrians entangled relationships and lifestyle is funny, clever, riveting, marvellous stuff. I like it because it is clearly, and well written. My critiscism, however, Is that it is very short (well, to me anyway) go out, buy it, read it in one night, enjoy it!
