Born in Yorkshire, England, in 1971, Adrian Dawson's artistic career has spanned advertising, graphics, copywriting, animation and web development.
Educated at Fulneck Moravian School in Leeds, Adrian initially trained as a fine art airbrush illustrator. His first "proper job" was as a designer at one of the first advertising agencies in the North of England to use Apple Macintosh computers, leading to his working in various Leeds Agencies before setting up his own design and advertising agency at the tender age of 24.
Whilst indulging his love of music, Adrian watched a documentary on the musical artists that had been, or had scheduled to be, on the doomed Lockerbie flight... which set him thinking. Codex, or the idea of Codex, was born. With Codex completed in 1999, Adrian was immediately signed to the Christopher Little Literary Agency, but Codex failed to find a publisher, due to its complex mix of science, theology and mystery. Ironically, many publishers thought (at the time) that readers would rather turn to the non-fiction of Baigent and Leigh for such subject matter.
As a debut author published by Last Passage, a company initially set up to embrace the digital age, Adrian's novel Codex stormed the UK's iBookstore charts, heading to the Number 2 position in its first week of release. For the following 20 weeks, and to date, it has rarely vacated the Top Ten in the prestigious Mysteries and Thrillers category, where it has nestled alongside the works of Michael Connelly, Jeffrey Deaver and Mark Billingham and was the #1 bestselling full length thriller on the UK iBookstore of 2010.
Adrian's writing style has been likened to Michael Connelly and the content to Dan Brown by reviewers,
'If the ending isn't right, then the story isn't right,' says Adrian, a self-confessed perfectionist, who takes exceptional pride in the depth of research, close attention to detail and heartfelt emotion he includes in his work. "I really enjoy the planning and plotting that goes into writing a novel, and the more research the better. I love it when I can take Scientific fact and blur it with Scientific fiction so that the reader is not entirely sure where the former ends and the latter starts!"
Adrian lives in Nottinghamshire with his girlfriend, his twelve year old son and three chocolate labradors, one of whom is called - appropriately enough - 'Magus'.
Adrian's second Novel, Sequence, was released on 5 September 2011, and has so far received rave reviews in The Times, SciFi Now, Shots and New Books magazines, as well as Milo's rambles, Eurocrime and Excellent Reads.
