Now I know for sure,
By Susannah "B" (Somewhere in Europe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adrenal Fatigue, A Desk Reference (Paperback)
This book confirmed what I already suspected: that I suffer from adrenal fatigue. It is informative, although I found some contradicitions, such as "...and dairy...are essential to adrenal recovery", then you find dairy in the list of "bad choices". The opposite is for whole grain: it's to be avoided, but you find it in the list of "good choices". It's an easy read and a very good quick reference, and you find out which supplements you can take, which dietary changes you can make and which lifestyle changes you should make to improve your health and adrenal function, therefore it is excellent. It's great that you don't have to go through a whole load of detail in order to obtain the information you need, it's easily available, exactly as it says, as a "desk reference". If you're suffering from stress, I would recommend this book.

Not much Information,
By Rita Hubert - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Adrenal Fatigue, A Desk Reference (Paperback)
Small pamphlet with limited information on the topic. I had expected a complete 'desk reference' with a lengthy history and background, description of adrenal function, well researched options of what works in terms of treatment, etc. But the pamphlet was missing a lot.

OK as far as it goes,
By Muriel Vasconcellos "muriel33" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Adrenal Fatigue, A Desk Reference (Paperback)
Compared with other books on the subject of adrenal fatigue, this one is short on background and theory and dry in its presentation. The subtitle tells us that it's a "Desk Reference," so I guess the point is to accept it for what it is. The best part, for me at least, is the second half, with a succinct summary of a large range of remedies, a description of what they do, and recommended dosages.
However, the truth is, I was disappointed. I expected more. Adrenal fatigue is largely unrecognized by the medical profession, so your family doctor is unlikely to be supportive of a treatment program. For this reason, I'm looking for good resources backed up by available science. Moreover, treatment is subtle and requires committed long-term changes in lifestyle, so I want books on the subject that are persuasive. I'm looking for a wake-up call that will convince me to commit to the program. This book fails to persuade. |
