Product Description

Review

Here are 20 super-cute animal-themed hat, mitten and bootee sets to hand knit. The hats will keep tiny heads, ears and necks warm and toasty. Stylish matching mittens, booties and scarves are also included. The size range is from six months to four years and the patterns suit all knitting levels from beginners to advanced.-Machine Knitting Monthly This book is just what it promises in the title. Cute knits for kids. Children love animals and these wearable knits are themed around animals. These practical patterns are fun to knit and wear. The patterns are mainly for hats but also include mittens and some socks and scarves. The hat design is pull-on, so no fastenings and they are not easy to tug off. The patterns are graded and this book is suitable for the beginner up. The products are well photographed and the patterns look easy to follow. Dress your children up in their favourite animal. Basic knitting instructions are given at the back of the book too. A big hit with mums and children alike. You may need to substitute yarn, make sure you match your tension.-Yarnsandfabrics.co.uk/crafts It can be a struggle for parents to get little ones to wear hats and gloves in winter, but that could soon be a thing of the past. Nuriya's coverall hats are designed for children aged from six months to four years and have a practical built-in neck warmer, so kids can't pull them off easily. Loved the patterns. Couldn't find an equivalent yarn in this country (with tension and needle size given in pattern) Used Sirdar Supersoft Aran as nearest but used tension and needle size stated on band. At considerable cost I have ordered Lion Brand Jiffy and used the needles stated in the pattern UK 10 - 3.25mm (despite recommended size on Band being 6mm ). I was not really surprised to find that this comes out far too tight and hard so assume there is a big error in the book. Wonder what others think!

Nice patterns but rather difficult - and the patterns are based on a yarn from the US and I couldn't find anything the same size in the UK, so it all became a bit of a guessing game. Very cute patterns but not user friendly especially for the Uk

The hats are indeed adorable and delightful but, as other reviewers have said, it's quite difficult to produce a wearable
one. I tried three times, with different size needles, more stitches and different yarn, and didn't come up with a hat to fit
my 12 month-old granddaughter.

I found this book by chance in my local library and just had to buy it. The hats are glorified decorated balaklavas but such fun. I don't think a child over 4 would feel cool wearing them but for babies and toddlers they are ideal. The yarn is a problem as its not sold in Uk but I have knitted a few in various chunky yarns and they have come out ok. Great for using up your stash! Interesting patterns-for the intermediate knitter

Having looked at the desired tension, it would seem that 4.5 mm or 5.mm needles with aran wool would work with these patterns .. if that's any help? :)

I was disappointed when this arrived as it was American yarn that was used and the tension did not work out correctly
