I have to say, I hate how-to and self-help books as a rule, but as a parent of a teenager this has been a god send. It's not at all folksy or twee, but genuinely pragmatic. Strategically left around the house our teenage son also picks it up, reads and quotes from it. It's been a significant help in dealing with conflict, boundaries and the usual andolescent-angst triggers.
