Product Description

OK, why a book of nothing but tips? Because that's where all the really slick, really useful, and really fun stuff is. It's true! If we're looking through a book and we see the word "Tip" we're all immediately drawn to it, because we know we're about to learn something great. Maybe it's an undocumented keyboard shortcut, a hidden inside secret, or just a faster, better way to do something we do every day. The only problem with the tips in these books is, there's never enough of 'em. That is, until now.

That's because this book is packed cover-to-cover, wall-to-wall with nothing but those cool Photoshop CS sidebar tips. Every tip is designed to make you work faster, smarter, and have more fun using Photoshop CS. There's no detailed descriptions of CYMK separation set-ups, or long boring discussions on color management theory--it's just tips--short, sweet, and to the point.

But we've done the "tip" idea one better, because every tip has a full-color graphic to make the tips even more accessible, even more fun, and even easier to use. Most importantly, to get in this book they've got to be "Killer Tips" The kind of tip that makes you smile, nod, and then call all your friends and "tune them up" with your new status as Photoshop guru.

If you've wondered how the pros get twice the work done in half the time, it's because they know all the tips, all the tricks, and now with this book--so will you.

I have lots of Photoshop books but this is my favourite. I know a bit about Photoshop, I've been on training courses, but I don't use it every single day. This book is the first I refer to when I can't quite remember the best way to say, convert a colour image to b&w. The book is both a reference and a decent read for dipping into and discovering new techniques or better methods. It gives solid practical advice in full colour with no padding and an excellent layout. The only naff thing about it is the cover and title :-)

Good set of tips 19 Feb 2005
Format:Paperback
Yep, 4 stars for a book that provides a considerable amount of tips. Many of those tips are based on using Photoshop itself, rather than artistic and graphical techniques.

Mate up your own mind.

Right tool for the right job 13 Mar 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I love it when people buy a book that's clearly labeled as "nothing but tips", then go online and express shock and dismay that the book is, ehhh, nothing but short tips, and not what they expected.

(Sorry for the misanthropic outburst. I'll lighten up from now on, promise.)

I use Photoshop about every day and my books are divided into 2 categories, the ones I dip into all the time while I'm working and the tutorials I rarely get the time to explore. Scott kelby writes both kinds of books, but I've liked Killer Tips best and used them since the PS 6 version because they teach reams of useful aspects of using PS. Some of the tips I already know or don't apply to how I use PS, but for the most part I get better at PS using these books than I do any other. It's like, 20-some bucks and you get over 300 tips, so it's less than a dollar a tip. I spend more on toner every month, and the advanced tips chapter alone is worth the price.

Actually lots of great tips 10 Mar 2004
By appleguy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I'm a long time Photodshop user and I did find lots of very useful tips. Many were brand new but there were also lots of "reminders" - tips I probably used at one point, but forgot over time. Things like changing multiple type layers at once, straightening an image quickly with the measure tool, copying layer masks, the file browser tips and trouble-shooting tips were all very useful.
I think there's practical tips in this book for every level of user.
I look forward to more Killer tips books like this!

Paid for itself in a weekend! 23 Mar 2004
By LLGran - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Picked it up this weekend, and although I've been on CS since the release, have saved myself enough time, to have more then paid for the book! I can't wait to get through more of it. Found many tips that just help me work faster. Worth a read.
