Splashed out on the real one, absolutely fantastic. I've used it for past two months. Every day something different to learn but, very rewarding. Latest project was with Photomerg and panorama settings, magic, no sign of a join anywhere. This was with eight individual images.
Treat yourself for Christmas.
Just the one present!

Simply put, People don't say a photo has been edited any more, They say it has been photoshopped, I've been using photoshop since version 7 and I have to say CS2 is my favourite version by far, Not too keen on the new-ish CS3 as it seems more gimmicky and the GUI has been messed around with which is a bit annoying considering they cracked it with CS2.
It really depends what you want to do as far as buying this package goes, If all you want is to fix some images, Remove red eye, Crop, Fix color balance etc. then you would only really need Photoshop Elements or Adobe Lightroom, But if you want to be able to go anywhere your creativity takes you then This full version is essential, As for learning photoshop just search "Photoshop Tutorials" and do a few of the millions of tutorials online.

This has been great.
I 've had it CS2 for two months now and it does far more than i realised to begin with and has become more intuitive every time i use it.
From simply cropping and tidying pictures to remaking them entirely it does the job much better than any other editing software i have used (admittedly it wasn't so expensive!) I do still find new ways of using the features and there's a lot i've not used, or needed to use, yet.
Very powerful, not necessary if you only want to sort out holiday snaps.
Be warned because it's addictive and may lead to other purchases - graphics pad, monitor, illustrators etc... but very worthwhile and loads of fun.

If there was any question Photoshop had left its competitors in the dust CS and CS2 leave no doubt. Yet again this update includes new features and reworking of old tools which predicatbly, make it very hard to go back to using earlier versions.
The file browser has had a mjor overhaul, long overdue, and now becomes adobe bridge, and indeed it is a much better interface for browsing image libraries, even incorporating an inbuilt feature for searching images on online stock image libraries, or even searching for a photographer for a specific project. its now very easy to see meta data alongside the images, but interestingly all meta data fields except keywords can be edited in adobe bridge, which would be a very data to edit there.
Again trying to move users away from some of the excellent noise reduction software available, Photoshop cs2 has upgraded its noise woeful reduction filter, but the results are still nowhere closes to the noise reduction available in some 3rd party applications.
The blur tools have also had a major reworking and indeed has become a much more capable, and vast suite of different blur filters.
The spot healing brush needs serious tweaking to get acceptable results, and its far easier to get excellent results with the healing brush, but this has now become a very well rounded and essential photoshop tool.
Again a well rounded update with a plethora of new tools, filters and capabilities which will be welcomed by the professional photographer or designer.

As a photographer i have found this software incredably useful. It may be expensive but its worth every penny! The filters are very effective and realistic and the tools are extremely useful.
I would recommend this product to anyone who deals with design/photography job. BUT i would not recommend it to novices on computers/photography software.

A very powerful package ideal for digital photographers with a smaller budget (CS5 is far too expensive at the moment - upgrade later). I initially found it very difficult to use but once mastered it is a joy to use. Believe me you will not learn it overnight, it will take weeks if not months to use it with confidence. My advice is to learn the user-interface thoroughly and master selection followed by the concept of layers leading to masks etc. A number of books on CS2 were useful from Amazon but I also strongly advise the use of video tutorials on the subjects mentioned then the books become clearer.

It is now classed as Freeware [...]
Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems. This older, still useful version was released for free.

Adobe's 2003 "Creative Suite" rebranding led to Adobe Photoshop 8's renaming to Adobe Photoshop CS. Thus, Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the 13th major release of Adobe Photoshop. The CS rebranding also resulted in Adobe offering numerous software packages containing multiple Adobe programs for a reduced price. Adobe Photoshop is released in two editions: Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Photoshop Extended, with the Extended having extra 3D image creation, motion graphics editing, and advanced image analysis features.[5] Adobe Photoshop Extended is included in all of Adobe's Creative Suite offerings except Design Standard, which includes the Adobe Photoshop edition.
