Product Description

Product Description

This innovative product is a focused video workshop and accompanying 48-page full-color book that will teach InDesign users how to design documents with e-book publishing in mind, and create and publish them in the ePub format. Viewers will learn about new electronic publishing features in InDesign CS5.5, how to work with text, create hyperlinks and cross-references, work with graphics, create covers and tables of contents, and export to the ePub format. How to fine-tune ePub code will be covered, and an appendix will provide an introduction to the ePub format.

Experienced instructor Rufus Deuchler presents three hours of exceptional quality video tutorials, complete with lesson files, assessment quizzes, and review materials. The video is wrapped in a unique interface that allows the viewer to jump to any topic and also bookmark individual sections for later review. The unique Watch-and-Work mode shrinks the video into a small window to allow the student to work alongside in InDesign. Project files used in the lessons are included on the disc so viewers can practice what they've learned, and interactive review questions help reinforce freshly gained knowledge.

The DVD-ROM is bundled with a printed booklet that provides supplemental material to enhance the video training.

Adobe InDesign CS5 for Creating eBooks 26 July 2011
By Ariane Colenbrander - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD-ROM
This is a great 2 1/2 hour workshop geared to designing and publishing eBook documents using Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Taught by Rufus Deuchler, this combo DVD/book focuses on the latest ePub features. The lessons cover text, creating hyperlinks as well as working with graphics and tables of contents. This series also touches on code.

I like the features of the video player that will automatically remember where you left off in the series. As well, you can shrink the video into a smaller size window in order to simultaneously practice what you're learning.

The DVD is geared towards intermediate users and even covers the latest features in CS5.5 for those new to the upgrade. A handy glossary will bring you up to speed with design terms.

Rufus Deuchler has taught graphic design since the mid-90's and has authored several interactive learning courses.

Gets you up and going in a fast-evolving field 22 Aug 2011
By Mary Roach - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD-ROM|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not as detailed as I would have liked, it never-the-less is a fast way to get you up and running in a field that's very quickly evolving. You'll need to take notes as you go because, of course, there are a lot of very specific settings you'll need to know. My initial inclination was that it's over-priced, but on second thought, the field is so quickly evolving that I doubt much of what he tells you will be gospel truth for very long, so if you need to get going NOW, this will get you started. It's not very in-depth, but I don't know what to recommend that would be more in-depth that isn't already out-dated in many respects.
