Format: Paperback
Adobe Flash Professional CS5 On Demand is a design program for flash projects. If you've been on the Internet, the odds are that you've used flash in some form. Whether you have watched a video, downloaded an app, or clicked a submit button, flash was working in the background.

Adobe Flash Professional CS5 On Demand begins by looking at how to create a flash movie and then works through projects like buttons and creating graphics. As someone new to Flash design, I found this a bit intimidating. I would have preferred working with something simple and then working up to the more complex. Still, there are probably a lot of people who probably got this book specifically for its usage in making online movies. In that case, the book's layout would be perfect.

Wasting my time 21 April 2011
By MarsMan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I am using this book to prepare for the ACE exam. This book gets two starts for two reasons:

1. For each exercise in the book, the author does NOT tell you file to open; and they are not listed in logical (or numerical order), so you have to hunt down what file the author is referring to.

2. Many of the files are set up with Flash 7 and AS 2.0 publish settings, and the exercises talk about advanced features of CS5. For instance: blending mode and 9-slice scaling. So you have to go in and update the publish settings before following along with the examples.
Waste of ink and paper. 19 April 2011
By Kevin Keiller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
There is nothing in this book that countless others have. Its more like a supplemental booklet for those who dont want to read thru the entire manual to get an idea of how the visual side of Flash works. I guess its ok for beginners, but its more of a reference for those who already know most features.

Dont buy it from a bookstore. They want $35 for it. Better yet, save your money and stick to video tutorials for this kind of stuff. There is barely any ActionScript and its so basic, you wont be producing anything of real value. The worst part is they waste over 15 pages talking about the basics of ActionScript 2! Im sure there are some people stuck in 2006 who use AS2 still, but the way the world works, those people more than likely are doing mom and pop freelance stuff.

They do offer a code at the back of the book to go online and get content that goes along with the book. Here it is:UU0UQGA

There is some useful information in this book, but not enough to justify the price.
A fine pick for any library seeking a visual step-by-step format in full color 18 Sept. 2010

Steve Johnson's ADOBE FLASH PROFESSIONAL CS5 ON DEMAND is a fine pick for any library seeking a visual step-by-step format in full color covering the basics of Flash Professional CS5. With its keys to creating animation, tracking Flash changes, using blend modes and more, this provides keys to fine design and is a top pick for any computer instructional collection.
Good book 16 Dec. 2012

It's helpful when you are just starting out with flash. It breaks down the system and explains how all the tools work. My one complaint is that it doesn't really tell you how to *do* a lot of things. But I will say this book combined with "How to Cheat at Flash" is a good combination when you're trying to learn flash.

I choose this rating because the book is good. What I like about the book is that it provides those answers in a visual step-by-step format. What I dislike about the book is that it had a lot of pages to read. What I dislike about the book is that it had a lot of pages to read. I would recommend this book to other people.
