Product Description

Adobe ColdFusion Web Application Construction Kit is the best-selling ColdFusion series of all time—used by more ColdFusion developers to learn the product than any other books.

ColdFusion 10 was built to make your applications safer, more scalable, and more powerful, and to make programming more efficient. It starts with coverage of new techniques in web application development, particularly the growth of web standards technologies like HTML5. The second section describes ColdFusion 10 language and programming enhancements, focusing on CFML, CFScript, XML, and Java. In the final section you’ll learn how to use modern development practices like deploying applications in the cloud, the latest administration and security techniques, and more.
  • Take advantage of HTML5 innovation
  • Learn how to use REST web services
  • Implement WebSockets to build richer user experiences
  • Understand ColdFusion’s new cloud deployment functionality

4.0 out of 5 stars Clear and comprehensive 30 May 2013

Like all of Ben Forta's books on ColdFusion, this is clear and well-written. My only gripe is that he mixes tag syntax and script syntax throughout the text. Script syntax has matured in the last couple of versions of CF and could easily have been used exclusively, at least for code which doesn't generate HTML directly.

Having a book which only deals with the updates since the last version makes it slightly less useful for reference than a complete guide would have been. However, given that the three books for ColdFusion 9 cost $150, I suspect that this approach might appeal to more people. Maybe Forta will manage to produce a completely updated book (ideally in one volume and properly indexed) for ColdFusion 11 when it comes out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good information. Maybe too high of a price 3 Dec 2013

I did not know that this was a 3 volume series. This is the 3rd volume. While I am learning a great deal, this book is pretty thin for the price. Good information, just too expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tool 29 Oct 2013

This book was a great addition to my technical reference library. It also helped me learn and use ColdFusion 10 really quickly. The book is very well put together; with the information it contained, I was able to re-purpose and redeploy a coldfusion 8 application in a week, even though I've never written a coldfusion application before. Well done!!
