It's very poor value now. Some of the features of earlier versions of Audition have been removed such as the noise and harmonic signal generator. Adobe Audition Customer Support (very difficult to get hold of in the UK by the way) suggested making a request for this to be considered for future versions but I don't see why such basic functionality would not have been retained. It's big and bloated and difficult to use now but has reduced capability. The help feature now points to a blog feature where other folks have had problems but they're not all resolved. Anyone lucky enough to find earlier versions should snap them up.

It's quite scary at first. I was taught to use the old software which seemed, in some ways, to be better. Drag and drop was simple, this software doesn't let you do that. It's taking me quite a while to find my way around it, although there are tips on the maker's website video.
I'm sure, eventually, I'll be glad I bought it, but find myself wishing I'd got the old version when it was still available. That said, it does the trick and my CDs still sound the way I want them to; it just takes me longer to do it.

Having been a devoted user of Audition since release 1.0 I was anxious to try the new CS5.5 version. Eventually it came.
But where were the familiar tools? Adobe's response 'if you want to use the tools that have been dropped keep earlier editions of Audition and run them both together.'
No CD option. One of the primary uses I have made of this program was to easily author CDs of my own work and that of others. (I work as a sound archivist.)
Where was the option to access file information? How to change a clip into a loop? Not apparently available. The other major use I made of this program was to create various multitrack sampled songs. Not as easy to do in this release.
One last gripe. Available online for $99. But it won't let you download it. You live in the UK where it will cost you £99. In fact I paid a total of £107.
All in all, despite the obvious lean towards video editing, an aspect of the program I have not yet tried but will do in future, the jumped up interface belies a barely developed program. For my money I would have been better changing to Wavelab elements I think. If that seems harsh it is because I am trying to develop my work, not learn new techniques. But this seems to be a problem common to Adobe and Microsoft. having little else to do than play with computers they expect the rest of the world to be similarly pre-occupied. Much as I would like to I cannot recommend this as an upgrade to the existing Audition 3.0. It is not. It is rather a move towards a different program altogether. Stick to music progs guys.
