This volume is not intended for easily digested 'how-to'. It is a thorough treatise on navigation. It goes on where others leave off - see especially the sections on passage planning and pilotage. It is primarily aimed at the RN navigating officer, and it shows. And yet, it is still clean and lucid in presentation. There will be some sections which you can skip over, like side-slip allowances in vessel's manoeuvres, but it is there if you find yourself winning the lottery and navigating your 100ft twin screw yacht! Even if you feel you know it all, this book will give you some extra. I wish I had found it years ago when I really needed it.
