At first I was a little sceptical about buying this but I'm glad I did. My friend purchased a much more expensive filter (more than 5 times more) at the same time and we conducted comparisons under the same conditions using the same settings and equipment. Needless to say, this inexpensive filter out-performed my friend's much more expensive one. It may not be the best filter on the market but, for very little cost, it achieved the results I was looking for.

Initially I was very hesitant at purchasing this because of it low price, but thought, well, it is cheap enough to purchase for practice purposes. This is a great piece of kit and works better than I anticipated, very handy when you need to use ND facilities without the need to carry too much kit around. The variability makes it extremely versatile and the price was unbelievable given the extensive usage it offers.

This does exactly what it is supposed to. Going from barely there to almost opaque this adjustable ND filter is exactly what I wanted at a fraction of the price of others out there.

It slipped onto the thread of my camera lens like a dream, and comes away just as easily. The rotation of the filter itself is smooth too.

Anything lower than a 35mm and it becomes ineffective, and there seems to be some colour shift on it, adding more green. Though once you've got it set up right, it does what you'd hope.

This is just a value for money variable ND filter. You can easily place it in the Nikon Nikkor 18-55mm and 55-200mm Kit Lenses, but you cannot put the lens's cap on it. The rotating part of the filter is loose so you cannot adjust in one position precisely. Also, the main drawback is that when you reach the MAX point of the filter (supposed to be the ND400) the filtering is much uneven, having too much light in the left and right edges of your photo. So, it cannot be used for extreme filtering of the light. For the rest range of the ND values, the filtering seems uniform with no problems. The packaging was fine.

Overall I am happy with this purchase. I am an amateur photographer and just getting used to most bits and bobs. This is a good product in the way that it is adjustable, saving a lot of time and effort and money as this is also fairly cheap.

On the negative side, the ring size fits a 52mm but then the other end is something like a 54mm. This causes the problem of not being able to fit the lens cap on when the filter is fitted. This means you have to remove and apply whenever you want to use it if you also want to keep it from being scratched.

The only other minor negative is the adjustable meter does not stop at 'Min' or 'Max' it will just keep turning round and round going from ND2 to ND400 then back to ND2. Not a major but could be improved.

Overall good price for a good product.
