Product Description

“There is another world touching ours that is filled with demons or, at least, that’s what we call them. They call themselves something else entirely, though that is neither here nor there. Every now and again, human beings manage to pull these demons through to our side. The human dies, of course, and the demon gets a person shaped suit to live in. We call these creatures the demonridden.”

Since the end of the Great Demon War, Silas has done his best to teach the newly bitten how to harness their abilities and do as little harm as possible. For those who reject his guidance, the challenge is more difficult: keep them squabbling with one another rather than thinking about rebelling against the creatures that created them. After nearly two centuries, however, it’s getting harder to focus on keeping the bitten in line and Silas is starting to feel like he’s fraying around the edges. It does not help that his latest recruit is turning out to be a major headache. He can only hope that the magic that binds him and honor will be enough to keep him one step ahead of those who would see him fail.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great follow-up 15 July 2013
By humanitysdarkerside VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm just going to say right away that "Addicted" was as well written as "Bitten". When I see the quality of writing that Anna Wolfe produces, I fall in love. Whether a novel is for children or adults matters not. Well written is fun to read.

Wolfe writes this about "Addicted": "Every now and again, human beings manage to pull these demons through to our side. The human dies, of course, and the demon gets a person shaped suit to live in. We call these creatures the demonridden." If humans could call in demons - even if they risked dying - we would do it. We just couldn't help ourselves. There is something inherently self-destructive and curious inside the human psyche.

Callie still lives with Silas trying to learn how to survive with drooling demons wanting her while all the time having to keep control of her "infection". Their four-person-group is pretty much like a family. Edie is scared of Callie but still acts like a mom or maybe big sister. Mark doesn't know if he feels Callie is his sister or if he just lusts after her. Silas is Silas - strong, silent dangerous guy with a secret dark past.

In "Addicted" two parties want to take Callie from Silas. One group has an indirect approach while the other is very direct. They figure they can beat Silas. But Silas is old and wily. The people (witches) he turns to for help aren't exactly cuddly themselves and they extract a price that he hesitates to pay.

There is an interaction between Callie and Mark that is priceless. More teenagy than this is impossible to be and Silas' reaction to the scene is perfect.

Like I said in my review of "Bitten" - it really is cruel of Anna Wolfe to keep us waiting for the next installment.

Really enjoyable book would whole heartlessly recommend to all. Especially those with a love of the supernatural, this is a break from the over saturated teen vampire literature.

4.0 out of 5 stars great book 6 Jun 2014
By Loren Weaver - Published on Amazon.com

Addicted is book two of The One Rises series by Anna Wolfe and continues on with the adventures of Callie, Mark, Eddie, and Silas. In this episode, Callie finds out a lot more about the history of the demons and the Great Demon War.
Callie’s powers are growing and Silas is struggling to teach her everything she needs to know. We also get to meet Dyshawn, another Bitten, as Callie and Silas travel to his clinic to help diagnose a mentally ill person affected by demons. The climax fight is one that will stick with you!
As always, Callie is such a kick-butt character that I can’t wait to get to read more about her. We get to see more of Mark, Edie, and Silas as well. Mark’s temper gets him arrested. Silas, as always, is keeping secrets. Edit and Dyshawn’s past relationship is revealed and we learn more about where she comes from.
But it’s the demons that are the biggest threat, and they’re willing to do whatever it takes to bring down Silas and his crew.
5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Characters... 24 April 2014

Interesting story and characters... Too bad the next book series is not available on Amazon... At least not in my region
5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting second book in a series 29 Jan 2014

When reading a series, you always expect the first book to be the best - it has to grab your attention, after all. The second book often flops... I'm happy to say that this was not the case. While I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first, I still really enjoyed it. The character development is very well thought out - they don't just throw a bio at you and expect you to digest it, but instead you learn more about the characters naturally as the story progresses. The power struggles in this book really work to showcase the honor of Silas, and the lack of humanity in some of the other Bitten. This book left me well satisfied, didn't feel rushed, and left me wanting to learn more about these characters as well as the history behind the Bitten and the Demonridden.
5.0 out of 5 stars An entertaining read 21 Sep 2013

If you read "Bitten," which sets the stage, Wolfe will pull you even further into her world with "Addicted." The weight of Silas' struggle grows even heavier, borne in part by his team but never completely. They seem bound together by their weaknesses, engaged in a constant struggle with dark, manipulative and powerful forces. "Addicted" is a fun fantasy read with unexpected twists. And the steamy bits are... well... steamy.
