Latest Updates

What's new in version 1.2.1
  • If you already have Adblock Plus for Android, it should notify you about the update shortly and download it automatically.
  • Important note: We strongly encourage you to install this release as soon as possible, it fixes a security issue present in all previous Adblock Plus for Android versions.
  • In addition to that, this fixes a bug in the previous version that caused development builds to be offered as updates for the release version. Because of that issue most Adblock Plus for Android users are using development builds now so this release will be offered as an update for development builds as well. This unfortunately also includes users who explicitly chose to install development builds - if that's true for you please install Adblock Plus 1.2.1.319 for Android manually to get back to the development build channel.

Product Description

Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads on your Android device. It blocks all online advertising when browsing, and when using your favorite apps like Angry Birds. It is 100% free and makes your Android device much more enjoyable!

Adblock Plus blocks: mobile ads, video advertising, banners, push notifications, display advertising, HTML5 advertising, and much more.

PLEASE NOTE: Adblock Plus might have limited functionality, depending on the Android version on your device and whether your device has been rooted:

Rooted: Blocks ads over Wi-Fi and 3G
Non-rooted with Android 4 (or later): Blocks ads over Wi-Fi
Non-rooted with Android 3 or earlier: Some manual configuration is required. Please visit our website to learn how to setup your own proxy: https://adblockplus.org/en/android-config#proxy
Also, Android does not allow ads to be blocked on SSL encrypted websites.

Adblock Plus is an open-source, community driven project. Many volunteers are contributing to the development and maintenance of Adblock Plus. Currently, there are over forty continuously updating filter lists in over a dozen different languages, ensuring that all obtrusive ads remain blocked.

Please note that Adblock Plus will probably become the highest data-using application on your Android device. However, this is only because Adblock Plus needs to filter the data to ensure that the ads can be blocked. Adblock Plus is actually only using a fraction of the data shown on your device.

Adblock Plus is also available for Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera.

1.0 out of 5 stars Connection failure 4 Feb. 2014
Verified Purchase
After installing Adblock on my Motorola Droid Razr the WiFi or mobile data connections would fail, I would have to delete the Wi-Fi connection to be able to use WiFi but if I move away from WiFi I would then have no internet connection at all, not even mobile data, I would have to un-install Adblock to be able to use mobile data.
I really wanted Adblock to work on my mobile so I persisted and re-installed and tired again and again, around five times over about three months until now, I've given up, even the recent update wasn't directed at this issue.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flawed 21 Nov. 2013
Installed on Nexus 10 and it ran ok for a while (had to modify proxy server in network set-up - not something for the uninitiated). Came to restart my tablet and it would not connect to wi-fi, "Authentication problem" reported. Uninstalling ABP and resetting proxy settings did not fix the problem, my tablet was dead to the Internet. Finally, had to delete my wifi connection and establish a new connection before it would work again.

I cannot recommend this app, not for trouble-free operation, and certainly to be avoided if you are not IT savvy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor 10 Jan. 2014

Downloaded this to remove ads from a Scrabble game, as advised. Regrettably, the ads were still present and it apeared to make no difference after configuring the proxy settings. Uninstalled to conserve Ram.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blocks ads by killing internet 28 Dec. 2013
By Alex

So, it does seem to block ads on YouTube and such, however you have to modify the network settings for the app to work. This would be fine but the internet is now very slow and a lot of times nothing will load at all meaning hitting refresh until content appears. Uninstalling.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not quite right on Kindle Fire HD .. 7 May 2013
Verified Purchase
I've been using the latest version from the adblocker website & although it had its foibles it worked well on the majority of sites so I was happy to see it here specific for the Kindle but once installed oh dear, in-app ads still showed & app store sometimes took ages to load if at all, I tried uninstalling & reinstalling thinking it would improve things but when I uninstalled the app store refused to open & trying to install from the cloud always led to a failure & since the silk browser update this app doesn't work at all. Also app continually switched itself to allow ads, too many complaints about this app on the official abp web forum concerning these & more problems, tbh I've totally removed the app & refuse to use it ever again.

expect for randomly trying other filter list there seems no way to manage what sites are blocks. I have an older version working fine on my google tablet ( I understand google have now kicked this out of their store), but on my KIndle Fire HDX 8.9 with a amazon store version, I was unable to sign in to myvirginmedia until I removed this app..

up until them I though it was pretty good, though configuring the proxy manually is a pain to have to do, & it has to be done for each and every wireless connection you want to use.
but now it is off, until I see an upgrade allowing site exceptions to be set, like in the PC versions
