This is a test tube of a dry powder, rather like washing powder, it's not as fine as flour, and is made of small grains. Just add water, and it expands as it absorbs the fluid. It ends up as a big bowl full of white fluffy soft stuff. You can pick it up and touch it or move it about as you wish. It's not wet at all. It does look rather like snow.

Leave it and after about a week, less if you leave it somewhere warmer, it dries out and goes back to being small dry grains again. - which my kids then immediately re-expand! - For some reason they find this fascinating, (aged 9 and 12) - It doesn't 'do' much else but it is a great cheap interesting novelty, fantastic as a 'going home' present after a party, or as a small gift if you are visiting children.
