THIS IS THE BEST BASSIST IN JAZZ......TODAY! 7 Mar. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I have seen Avishi in concert twice with Chic Corea and Origin. His tone is far superior to anything else I have ever heard. This CD is jam packed with great tunes and bass solos to die for. Even if your a classical jazz fan this cd is a must have! He has an all star crew on the recording, including Chic corea and Jeff Ballard on drums! BUY THIS NOW!!!

One of the best jazz albums in recent years 24 Aug. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is one of the best jazz albums to be released by anyone in years. The playing and composing are first rate and very beautiful, and there is a mood, an atmosphere to the music which recalls the magic of the 1959-63 era of jazz. Cohen is a major talent and I will track his future progress with great anticipation. In the meantime, this one stays on my CD player all the time.

humble jazz fan's words 27 Jan. 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

my brother gave me this cd because he didn't like it. I've since disowned him after listening to this brilliant montage of a composition. mr. cohen soundly represents and blends a delicate weave of bass and the oft overlooked trombone. such an effort should not be overlooked.

Wow! 24 Jan. 2009

This doesn't seem to leave my CD player. Cohen is young enough to have what I hope will be a very long and very prolific career. "Adama" is as close to perfect as you can get.

My take on Adama 30 Oct. 2010
By Music Maineiac - Published on Amazon.com

I am happy to give Adama an A+...this record indicated a new direction for jazz. The use of middle eastern instruments alongside a delicately powerful rhythm section focusing on groove. Traditional jazz mixed with polyrhythmic overtones add to the delightful heads and choruses. Also, the use of the Trombone, that essentially copies the Avishais' bass lines, add to the richness of his amazing bass chops. Musically and rhymically this album is on par with the best jazz records I have heard... as the best jazz musicians of the day are featured on this record. A+
