From The Studio

Having shared quite possibly the most excruciatingly embarrassing night together in cinematic history at the back end of the 1980s, Adam (Craig Chester) and Steve (Malcolm Gets) part company and don’t look back. Fifteen years later the pair meet again and fall in love, not recognising each other from their earlier encounter. After a year together overcoming their neuroses--of which there are plenty thanks to that fateful night--the penny finally drops and it is too much for Steve, who calls the whole thing off. Adam is left heartbroken and it is up to their two friends, the formerly obese stand-up comedienne, Rhonda (Parker Posey) and stoner serial-seducer Michael (Chris Kattan) to try and patch things up. Can the pair learn to get past their embarrassment? Will Adam’s family curse finally break? And will Rhonda realise she is no longer fat and that she needs some new material?

5.0 out of 5 stars Riotous, 27 Aug 2006

This film is perhaps the funniest I have seen and was a pleasant surprise in being so! Often I have rushed out and bought 'gay' themed films simply because they are 'gay', that have been largely pants, dull and poorly produced. This is NOT the case with Adam and Steve and is funnier than any 'straight' film I have ever seen. I thought I was in for more of the same old tat with this DVD but I almost burst an eye with laughing out loud! The cast are excellent, the writing is genius and the chemistry between all of the characters blew me away. In other words... it's not bad (!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely one for the gays (and their gal pals) everywhere !!, 8 Feb 2007

This review is from: Adam And Steve [DVD] [2005] [2006] (DVD)
The film never really takes itself too seriously - so even the parts which traditionally would make you squirm at the 'cheese factor' are easily digestible !

It's nice to see a 'gay movie' that does not focus on the lead actors being extremely good looking (at the expense of their acting ability !). Instead, the story is quite naturalistic - yet comical. It is interesting that the actor who plays Adam actually wrote it too - and though he is the 'star' of the movie, one is grateful at the way he does not overplay for laughs, steals the best lines or grabs all the sympathy and empathy from the viewer.

A lovely film. A lovely story with it's heart in the right place. A lovely cast. And with the few belly laughs added to the mix - makes this a must for any gay man's DVD collection. (And for once, a film suitable to maybe watch in front of Mum or Dad, or at least not have tucked in a box on the top of the wardrobe somewhere !?)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Movie!, 29 Oct 2006

This review is from: Adam And Steve [DVD] [2005] [2006] (DVD)
We rented this movie from Amazon and didn't quite know what to expect... What we got was laughter and a feel good factor that some gay movies don't often provide. It just got better the second time we watched it and I've just ordered a copy for keeps!

Go hire/buy this movie - you'll love it!
