5.0 out of 5 stars Old-school macho bloodfest! 13 Nov 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Adam Chaplin concerns the title character in a post-apocalyptic world where an oppresive police force and a mad dictator enforce the law with brutal violence, after Adam's love is tortured to death he strikes a deal the nature of which is quite vague and uses newly acquired super strength to pummel his way through every opposition punching his enemies quite literally to pieces, if you saw "The Story of Ricky" its a little like that but far more over the top. The plot seems a blend of cult anime series "Fist of the North Star" and the Brandon Lee film "The Crow" and is very entertaining, the violence is definitely anime inspired and in my opinion the only film that captures the fast, bloody insanity of Kenshiro's furious assults in live action. This release is in Italian with English subtitles that have a few misspelt words, nothing too distracting though, a few very brief extra's round off the disc. I'd say this is a very good return to form for Italy which along with the awesome psychological horror "The Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show" could be the rebirth of the Italian horror film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sinister gorefest 20 Jan 2013
Format:DVD
I purchased this film on the back of a trailer I saw on YouTube, as a hardened gore fan I was attracted by the body count in the trailer alone.
This Italian indie film is pure, unadulterated, splatter fun, but what makes it a little different from other films in this crowded market is the sense of menace and the claustrophobic way it is shot, sometimes feeling you're in the room with Adam.
The characters are creepy, the gore is amazing, the story is thin but works well.
This film won't appeal to the casual horror watcher, but if like me you like extreme cinema or fun gore films such as the machine girl, Father's Day, ichi the killer, inside, braindead then you no doubt enjoy this hidden gem.
