Fings ain't wot they used to be.,

This review is from: Adam Adamant Lives [DVD] [1966] (DVD)
Loved the series originally and bought this video at a boot fair 8 years ago for £5-00. Great investment, which took me back to the happy days of the 1960's, bad sets, average baddies crazy titles, but the lovely Juliet Harmer made up for it all and I remembered all over again, how much in love with her I was, along with Emma Peel, Cathy Gale etc.etc. I wanted to get more of this wonderful old series & contacted the Beeb, who for some crazy reason, said, they are not releasing any more. Boo hoo! I contacted someone on the internet and for the postage and two blank tapes he very kindly, copied me a number of the episodes, however, some are such poor quality so as to be unwatchable, but it would be great if more of this innovative series was restored and released, and we could all see the dashing Adam Adamant, the funny & clever Mr. Sims but most of all, the gorgeous Juliet Harmer in the guise of the lovely Miss jones! Why they haven't brought more out I'll never know and if they ever did, I'll eat my feet! There is still an awful lot of interest in this show to be found on the internet, and it is crying out to be re released, there are episode lists, cast details, information etc, but the lovely Juliet Harmer has vanished, Mr. Sims, was probably beaten to death by his Punch & Judy or maybe even by Richard & Judy, but whatever his fate, be he dead or alive, there is one thing we can be sure of: -

LEAVE THIS MAN ALONE,
By William Lewis (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adam Adamant Lives [DVD] [1966] (DVD)
A superb series wrongly daubed in the Avengers stable, the concept in the sixties was very original and the characters well 'drawn'. What has happened to the DVD, complete (17 episodes surviving)which the BBC began advertising during the early summer? The sartorially elegant and smooth Gerald Harper breezed through this, playing it deadly serious. And have you noticed how much better the acting was back then? Nowadays there is a silliness to the acting style when things are meant to be light-hearted, as if adults need to be telegraphed that something is amusing.

The BBC's answer to The Avengers.,

This review is from: Adam Adamant Lives [DVD] [1966] (DVD)
The show, broadcast from 1966-67, featured Gerald Harper in the role of the Edwardian-out-of-time Adam Adamant. The man from 1902, who finds himself suddenly in 1966 after being frozen in ice by his arch nemesis, soon finds trusty companions; the 60s chick Georgina Jones played by Juliet Harmer, and the eccentric entertainer William Simms played by Jack May. As the fab chick Georgina would say, it was a groovy combination.
