I've spoken to what i can only imagine to be an Indian call centre today a few times to guage a reasonable response but was unsuccessful. About an hour ago i tried again and actually got through to an english customer service agent. To cut a long story short the information that i got from the 'live chat' option was limited but a few minutes later i received the following email (i'll cut the irrelevant stuff out):
"I've checked your order, and have found that "Diablo 3" has been delayed in the dispatch process. We're processing your order now, and once it's been dispatched, we'll send you an e-mail confirming the date, contents, and method of delivery."
Just for reference i ordered mine on the 15th March, first class delivery etc etc as many of us did but it appeares that Amazon have really dropped the ball with this one. If you have any issues i would attempt to get a customer services agent on the 'live chat' and confirm when your order is being despatched. If enough people do this hopefully make Amazone locate where this has gone so very wrong.
I would post this on the relevant blizzard forum but unfortunately this will be my first blizzard product so i am unable to post. If anyone wishes to post this info on the site for people to view then please do so. At present i think there is going to be a large number of disappointed people on release day as i doubt this is an isolated inccident.
So yours is dispatching soon? So amazon did lie to me, probably. I chose Free super saver instead of standard because it's supposed to be the same. I even e-mailed them asking if changing it to standard would "progress" my order and this is what they told me: "Please understand that the delivery method/speed selected for an item, does not effect the actual dispatch time (of said item) from our Fulfillment Centre.". And so they advised me to keep Free super saver. And it's not even "dispatching soon" yet.. I also placed the order on the same day as you :(
They are right about the dispatch time, the pricing doesn't matter, it matters in terms of delivery time. I switched from Free to Standard yesterday morning and today I had this on Dispatching Soon. May be a coincidence. I switched just in case, even though I had to throw in an extra 8€.
I'm still waiting for the "Dispatched" because I've read about people having their order stuck in "Dispatching Soon" for 2 days or so.
Mine has been saying delivery est 15th since i ordered early march and now its saying delivery est 16! Agghhhh. Wish amazon would just send an email out to those effected. They know its a high profile release (biggest ever through amazon) and they've had many complaints about it so why no email amazon?!
