5.0 out of 5 stars An actors guide to success, 9 Sep 2001
By A Customer
I found the book to be insightful and full of interesting quotes and ideas on how to get through that audition and get the job. I myself had no idea what i was supposed to do in an audition but now that i have read this book i now know what is expected of me and what i can expect to come from the auditions. If people want to get ahead, then buy this book it will be worth it in the end and it doesn't cost a lot to buy which is a good thing for wannabe actors and singers.

5.0 out of 5 stars What do you expect?, 12 Feb 2004
Every actor, whether new or experienced with regards to auditions, would find an audition guide beneficial. Auditions are those things the life of an actor/presenter which are highly exciting, though also easy to often hate. A lot of the time one does not know what to expect at a venue. In addition, whether the actor exits the audition happy, or even distraught, it is always a bonus to know in advance what is expected and what we can do to prevent us moping in a tired manner on the bus/car/tube/train home saying to ourselves, ‘I know I could have done much better. Why didn’t I?!’

This book is guaranteed to solve all audition worries. Margo Annett presents this well-written guide perfectly, in different sections to represent every kind of casting. It covers audition types in the UK and US, stating clearly how they differ.Every kind of audition is included within this guide, so whether it be a theatre, commercial or movie casting, you will be entirely ready for it. Not only does this book cover castings/auditions in general, but it also tells of how to present yourself at an audition, information from the casting directors themselves, and more importantly, nerves (and techniques to help control them!)

The Actors’ Guide to Auditions and Interviews is a brilliant read and extremely reassuring to anybody who wishes to act. I read the section on ‘Commercial Castings’ before attending an audition for a computer store advertisement. I had no idea what to expect, but afterwards I found that Margo Annett was completely correct. I did not eventually get the job, but I knew that I did my best, was a lot more confident than usual, and was definitely not as nervous as I would have been had I not bought this book! Auditions are an important part of an actor’s career, and so I truly recommend everyone interested in this industry to purchase a copy.
