Product Description

Review

A down to earth tool that provides a range of straightforward and practical strategies for minimising the impact of stress on your life. --Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of MIND

People feeling the strain of the credit crunch and other worries can read a new book on how to manage stress. James Koch, 30, from Bristol, and his father Hugh, 57, from Cheltenham both Bristol University graduates have collaborated on the book Active Steps to Reducing Stress to help people feel calmer. The book is a practical manual giving readers tasks to carry out to help them feel calmer and more happy. The advice and tasks are broken down into four main areas: thinking, lifestyle, communication and behaviour. The idea is to explore the various stress reducing exercises in the book to find what works best for the reader. --The Bristol Evening Post --The Bristol Evening Post

A CHELTENHAM father and son have teamed up to help people beat stress. Psychology graduates Hugh and James Koch have put their heads together to produce the book Active Steps to Reducing Stress. The work is based on cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, using a series of steps which describe how to reduce stress in a positive, practical and action-oriented way. Both are keen to make psychology ideas more available and understandable. --The Gloucestershire Echo

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good, 17 July 2009
This review is from: Active Steps to Reducing Stress (Paperback)
I am not usually a fan of 'self-help' books but I found there were a lot of practical tips which I'm using at home and in the office.
I particularly like the simple suggestions such as walking to the shops or the bank and just looking around, listening to the noises and feeling the fresh air. Simple suggestions but when put into practice, surprisingly, you do find that it gives you a bit of breathing space to clear your head of worrying. Great book...might get copies for christmas presents.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the stress out of your life!, 21 July 2009

Love this book! It has really worked for me. I plan to get copies as gifts for a number of friends whose lives are too filled with stress. The book offers very practical advice, with relatively simple steps that you can easily incorporate into your life. Even though the steps seem simple, they are based on solid theory and are presented very clearly. If you are you feeling a bit too stressed (and who isn't), this book will have you feeling more relaxed in no time. You also will find that you enjoy starting each day a little bit more. For the price, you can't go wrong!
