I have suffered panic attacks, worry and anxiety for the majority of my life. Finding Dr. Abel's book, and her practice, has truly changed my life. Tired of numbing prescriptions and poor advice, Jennifer's gentle and drug-free approach is a breath of fresh air. I learned how to pin-point why I panic, and instead of waiting for an attack to begin, I now have the skills to identify and prevent repetitive anxious thoughts, mentally and physically relax my muscles, and thrive in formerly stressful situations.

Even if you do not suffer from anxiety, this book provides sage advice for anyone - manage your time effectively to reduce stress, learn to say "no", schedule time for yourself, let nature, friends and excercise energize you, and my personal favorite, don't be so hard on yourself! I highly recommend this book.

What is perhaps most striking about Dr. Abels new book is its complete readibility. Everyone wants to be less anxious and to eliminate worry and stress, but learning it from a book can be quite daunting. The techniques in "Active Relaxation" are presented in a seemless and understandable fashion, allowing the reader to move from one problem to the next without overwhelming your sense of comprehension. Gaining understanding of your own worry and anxiety seems really unattainable a lot of the time. However, Dr. Abels book makes the reader calm and comfortable, and able to visualize the simplicity of worry. The text presents easy to use techniques that can make your life much calmer- it certainly has made it easier for me to navigate through my day! Reading this will save you lots of time wasted on anxiety and worry over stress!

Dr. Abel has created a handy reference for the masses who experience performance-robbing stress whether at work or at play. (Yes, you can have stress while playing!) Integrating both eastern and western methodologies, this book provides straightforward, ready-to-apply techniques that everyone can start using immediately. I suggest the paperback version so that you can "personalize" it by highlighting and dog-earring the sections that work for you.
