Active Baby, Healthy Brain helps baby carers to guide them into helping babies to develop thier natural skills. Things that one may do by instinct while caring and playing for babies yet being conscious of their benefit. At the same time understanding the pace of the babies activities not wanting to rush things and at the same time introducing new games and movements to lead them to a well balanced development.

This book is rubbish, if there were zero stars available I would give it that. The book has nothing in it that is not common sense. And cannot be classed as games. For example book advises that you place baby on his back!!!
Some of the games are in my opinion dangerous. For example the book suggests that a toddler be taught space awareness by climbing under chairs. It also recomends that you teach a toddler to climb a ladder lying on a floor!! There is some science provided by the author but it feels as if the science is provided as a means of calling the activities brain games, when in reality they are activities that all parents will surely do such as swaying and dancing with baby! (Apparently this helps the vestibular stimulation. Aka inner ear stimulation)

I also purchased dr Miriam Stoppard which was cheaper to purchase but higher quality I. Every way, games are just that games backed by good explanations and in colour as opposed to this book which is in black and white with poor drawings.

Miriam Stoppard has photos of babies doing the activities which my four month old loves looking at.

I shall be returning this irresponsible. Poor and expensive product.

A little bit repetitive but does give some good ideas about different movements to accommodate in to your child's day. This is our first child so I've found it useful as I'm not the most creative. Not a substitute for getting them out in to the great outdoors as I do everyday, but we've made up our own songs for some of the movements and we both enjoy it. My little one particularly likes the 'Jack and Jill' idea that's in the book early on. We do most of this while he lies on his play mat.

Simple, but Helpful Book 16 Feb. 2011
By Lewis Family - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book is a simple, clear-cut and easy read. We have a young child that receives PT and this book helped illustrate for us what our therapists were often suggesting or advising us on. We're the types that do better with having something to read as opposed to just being told what to do and this book helped us visualize what our therapists were explaining to us (since it wasn't always possible for them to show us on our child in the early days of her early intervention services when she was so young and sometimes would sleep through appointments). So this book made it easier for us to understand what it is we are supposed to be incoporating and working on with our daughter. Highly recommend it to other parents of special needs children who are just getting started with PT or other therapies. Not everything in the book will apply if your child is not yet moving well, but it still gives ideas on how to incorporate activities to encourage balance, body awareness, shoulder/arm/hand development, etc.

Book was okay, seller was amazing! 27 Feb. 2014
By Monica - Published on Amazon.com

This book is great for first time moms to help keep their kids up with milestones. It has good advice to help cognitive ability and promote growth. Now that my daughter is almost two though, I don't think I've even picked up the book since she was 14 months old. i feel like we've out grown it and the advice becomes redundant. Some of the tactics seem difficult to accomplish with a sleep deprived mommy brain and grumpy baby. Other exercises require special equipment. but some don't require anything except mommy or daddy.

I would recommend to others because their experiences may differ from mine. Hopefully they can get more from the book than I did.

The seller was amazing, it arrived a day early with little damage from shipping. Thank you

A must for the new mommy! 13 Nov. 2013

This is a great resource for every new mom! (and a reminder for those who've had a few!) I was amazed at all the learning/teaching helps it shows! Not only does it give you the description of how to do things, it shows pictures! I agree that a picture is worth a 1,000 words!
If you are looking for a good book to start your baby off with all the benefits possible, this is a great place to start!

I like that this book talks about the brain/body connection, and I like that there are activities laid out for different ages. I just wish there were more activities suggested or more recommendations on how to implement them. For example, one activity for 12-15 months is walking up a ramp. Other than going out to buy something to create a ramp, I wasn't sure how to do this. I ended up taking cushions off of my couch and tilting a cushion so that they could walk up the cushion ramp onto the couch, but this wasn't as sable as I would have liked. I would have appreciated ideas (cheap ones) for how I could make this work along with some other ideas.

There is a lot of research on how the brain and body are connected. I would have appreciated more of the science behind each activity, but I don't think that is a reason to dislike this book. For parents who are not looking for the science, this book really is pretty straight forward with activities for you to do with your child.
LOVE THIS BOOK 31 July 2013

I have twin sons who are 7 months old now. I bought the book when they were about 4 months old as I noticed my nanny had it among her items she brought on a frequent basis. The book is AMAZING! My boys love all of the activities, and my pediatrician tells me they are "extremely advanced" beyond most babies she treats! My boys were crawling by 6 months old, and they have excellent dexterity and fine motor skills. They pull themselves up already, and have begun creeping (walking along furniture while holding on, not walking freely). I know much of their advanced skills are just in who they are, but I absolutely credit this book with giving me the tools to really take them to the next level. BUY THIS BOOK - YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!
