I just put it on and it blew me away...almost impossible to put into words, so just a few incoherent thoughts: imagine a jazz megaensemble that plays to tone colours, not individual notes - not dissimilar to Ligeti's main endeavour period (well, it's Penderecki, and before his regress, too), or to that pre-one-chord finale in A Day In the Life, plus discordant child singing half-way between soundtracks from sentimental/gory Japanese thrash cinema and Cherry's very much own, trademark quirkiness that bore vocal fruition in Codona. And the madness surely does not stop here - 50s cool, avantgarde decomposition, pseudo-indian-arabic ragas, dissonant and very much charming in a way only seemingly very miffed but still, in essence, benign blue smurfs would be normally expected to bring on to the table. It's madness but an eye-opening one, one that suddenly tugs at the veil and reveals a wide open horizon. And the best thing is, the cohort (and it's not just Cherry, those other runners under the Sun seek it as well) predates similar world-jazz-amalgamation efforts by a (punk) decade. Something was in the air. Or: somehow a pendant to Moondog's Invocation, on the scale of consciousness.

Shining-score composer and free-jazz supremo get it together with a room full of respect - Humus is spectacular - Arabian faux-chamber music with a crazy trumpet soul - listen to this record after a few Senior's and you'll be in another world, I swear it down.
