This Book was a godsend, it helped me get up to speed from no knowledge in Action Script 3.0 and I was able to familiarise myself with the basics and see what I could do with AS3.0

The only gripe I have with the book is that at the end of the lessons it reccomends things to try with the program you just created but a lot of them seem a bit ambiguous and I couldn't figure out how to do the majority of them.

Anyone looking to start learning this is a must have!

The best tutorial book I've ever used, great for anyone whether you know anything about programming or not. The lesson files are available for download if you get the Kindle version, so just disregard Daniel Seager's two star review. The book is very well written and explains everything in detail.

An excellent book and would be my first choice for anyone who wants to start scripting the language:-). Describes each topic very well and the follow thru with the examples are very practical.

I don't actually have this book, but if it's like all the other Adobe Classroom In A Book editions, the exercise files are available for download. The link is usually near the end of the book.

I bought "ActionScript 3.0 for Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Classroom in a Book" for Kindle as it was necessary for my studies and I didn't fancy carrying it around all the time. However, the books' content is heavily reliant on the companion CD, which Amazon happily fails to inform you is absent in the Kindle version. As such, the Kindle version is effectivley useless and until such a time arrives that Amazon provides a seperate download for the CD files, should be avoided at all costs.

tldr: Buy the paperback version, its the only one you can actually use.

Can't quite understand when to end a code with a ; or not. eg P56 and P57, after codes like instrument scaleX += .1 (no ;) whereas it works when I insert ; after it. When do you actually insert ; after a code? P59: What is the difference between fadeOut and FadeOut?
