Back in the early 80's, me and my mate Bruce T were 2nd Generation Mods discovering the original clothes and sounds from the 60's. Bruce was always the first to get the records; Small Faces, Yardbirds, The Who and The Action.
At the time Bruce was raving about The Action compilation he had just bought and I listened to it once at his house but never gave it a second chance. On the other hand I was too busy heading for coastal resorts on my Vespa and exploring the Northern Soul/Tamla Motown sounds.
Now nearly 30 years later I've just bought Action packed from Amazon and it has to be one of the best albums I have listened to for a long time. I can't stop playing it. Unlike some albums, I don't skip any tracks 'cause they're all great and some exceptional: In my lonely room, Just once in your life, Wasn't it you, Since I lost my baby, all really soulful. The later tracks have an upbeat, positive, west coast edge "Never Ever think of bad times, just remember the glad times" sing it every morning!
