4.0 out of 5 stars Dated in appearance but not in insight 31 Mar 2010
By Ripple TOP 100 REVIEWER
Unfortunately, the layout and design of this book is now somewhat dated - but neither Suzman nor the advice given is! The origins of this book were in a television master class and this presents some challenges in terms of replicating the spirit of a class format in a book - most of which are overcome with great ease. In fact, the chatty nature of some of the advice is even more helpful and charming because of this. Suzman has acted in almost all of the great Shakespeare comedies and her knowledge and insight are invaluable. It's no surprise that she has since gone on to direct some terrific Shakespearean productions in South Africa - she is a naturally gifted teacher and generous with her advice. Well worth reading for any aspiring actor - and particularly good on acting in Shakespeare.
