Gordon Goodwin has assembled a group of truly world class musicians, in technical ability, in their ability to blend with each other to form the glorious sounds on this album and in their ability to just SWING!!
This is their best release since 'Swingin' For The Fences' and is anything but background music - from the opening number, this music grabs you and refuses to let go. Forget toe-tapping, it'll have you dancing around your home like some kind of maniac. Where Goodwin's band comes alive is in the sheer energy they put into each track - even the slower numbers have a tangible electricity to them.
If you're after the best, or just after an album to give you an idea of this kind of music, there are few worthier contenders to the crown of best Big Band out there right now then the Phat ones.

This is really not as good as their other albums. September in particular should not have been done. No one should attempt to cover Earth Wind and Fire. Check out the previous three albums before this one.

The CD is really good I keep playing it over and over and still enjoying it. I play a tenor sax in a jazz band and would love to be has talented as these guys the phat bands musicians are definately some of the best artist in the country. If you buy this CD you will not be disappionted.

This is incredible.Sound quality ,musicianship,song choice.This is worth it just for a track with art tatum on piano(via disclavier)-ive listened to this track at least 30 times this week.I bought the cd and dvd version.the dvd gives an bio of each song while it plays (you cant see band though)but the info is very useful and it does have 3 live tracks of band and winners playing of phat band online musician winner,very interesting.i got the jap import with an extra track on it.(not worth effort).This pack was more than just a cd and provided a lot of entertainment and pleasure.also has great funk too.drummer amazing.

This is an absolutely fantastic album. It's really good fun to listen to (even more fun to play!).
Listen out for the quote from Rhapsody in Blue during one of the solo breaks in Backrow Politics (trumpet section feature).
