This is an excellent first-hand account of the first Chindit operation from the view of a 19-year old subaltern posted in at the last moment who served in Mike Calvert's column. It quotes extensively from Dominick 'Nick' Neill's 80 page monograph held at the Gurkha Museum and that of another officer of the battalion, Denis Gudgeon.

5.0 out of 5 stars World War 2 British Soldiers Burma 1943 11 April 2010
By Beckisprout_in_Alaska - Published on
One of the most daring operations of World War 2 was launched in 1943 when Brigadier Orde Wingate led 3,000 British, Gurkha, & Burmese troops & 1,000 mules more than 300 miles deep inside Japanese occupied Burma. They crossed mighty rivers & high mountain ranges, penetrating dense jungle, blowing up railways, ambushing the enemy, facing a savage test of endurance, courage & self-sacrifice
