    True Image 11 is a very good piece of software. It performs perfectly in Windows Xp Pro.
    However in Vista there are two problems that are not mentioned in the Manufacturer's information; these are:
    1) Dynamic disks are not supported; disks of this type will not show in True Image's drive windows. The only way around it is to save the drive's data, delete the volume and then convert to Basic disk. These operations are performed within Windows 'Disk Management'. The Basic disk is then formatted and then reloaded.
    2) Vista supports two types of partition table, MBR (the old master boot record) and GUID (or GPT). True Image 11 WILL ONLY SUPPORT MBR so any disk that uses GUID must have its volume(s) deleted and then set up with MBR partition.
    Acronis inform me that there is no simple workaround.

    I already had a backup/restore facility on my Acer laptop via so called Acer Empowering Technology. However it always took 3.5 hours to complete a full system backup which sometimes failed first time stretching the run time to an incredible 7 hours! Getting very fed up with this and having heard good reports on Acronis True Image I have just purchased the 11. version.

    Superb and so easy to set up and use. I did a full backup to an external hard drive in 24 mins and another to the Acronis Secure Zone partition I set up on my internal hard drive in 40 mins without a single hitch. Well done Acronis.

    We obtained a copy shortly after it was released to the market following an Amazon mailshot. We were very happy with the install and its apparent simplicity, however, following a system issue that required a complete re-install of Windows XP (and therefore lose of all data) we have learnt that all is not well with True Image.

    While the data files backed up successfully the Outlook emails, address book and Calendar did not. Even though we had verified the data there appears to be a development issue with the back up of Outlook.

    The data is on the DVD's, but will not re-install successfully.

    We have been working with Acronis now since the end of October and while there has been a partial re-install most of the data is still not available (now in December). They are still to produce a 'fix' for our copy of True Image (Build 8027) - I don't know if later versions are also affected, so beware!
