One of the drawbacks of dynamic disks is that when you find you have to upgrade your disks you find that there's nothing out there to clone them -- until you find Acronis. Admittedly, it's not as straightforward as doing a clone, but these people allowed me to create an image of my disk that could be used to create a bootable drive on a much larger disk without difficulty. I'm now using incremental images to back up my hard disks every night. I've tried all the so-called disk imaging and cloning products from other companies -- Ghost is probably the main competitor -- and they wouldn't even look at my disks and were a waste of time and money. Acronis provide a professional solution to an everyday computer task that most of us have to cope with. MBR problems mentioned by other reviewers were non-existent -- and why didn't they back it up anyway?

On installation the Acronis programm automatically inserts itself into your boot record for the purpose of giving choice to the partition you want to boot into at start up.Problem is, the programm is unstable,loses itself and states no configuration file present when the computer tries to boot up.No access to your computer.You have to use a Windows installation disk and repair the master boot record to retrieve your stuff.BEWARE any programm that writes itself into your boot record,even geek recommended ones.Windows does not like being interupted

This software is very good. I learned when I bought a new computer that it is a good idea to partition your hard drive, in order to maintain a safe and sensible file system. The computer (a Dell) had one huge 160GB disk all called "C:". How silly! But to reformat the disk into several partitions I would have had to wipe the disk, and then re-install the operating system! How ridiculous! I didn't want to have to do that so I bought this instead and it allowed me to partition my disk into three drives C:, D: and E:, each of a managable size. I didn't have to delete a single file.
