This is an absolute must for not only EBTG devotees but for those who just appreciate melodious songs and innovative harmonies. Many of the cover songs included here retain much of their originality but have enough individuality as to sway the listener into often prefering these versions. Highlights include Cyndi Lauper's 'Time After Time' and Elvis Costello's 'Alison'. Slower tempo-ed and stripped down versions of 'Come on Home' and 'Apron Strings' have an almost haunting quality about them. This CD is a reminder of Tracey Thorn's voice at her best and the clear musicianship of Ben Watt. It proves that without the distraction of the pointless stab at credibility that their drum and bass flirtation period produced, an emotive voice and well chosen songs are what EBTG excell most at.
