This is a great little pickup!

It arrived as shown, the circular pickup encased in black plastic, with pre-wired jack socket.

I ordered it because I made a one-string diddley bow for my Dad this Christmas and wanted to electrify it! Simply drilled a hole into the side of the tobacco tin I was using as a bridge, this pickup fit very neatly inside. It came with a sticky pad on the underside of the circular piezo "case" so I could easily stick it in place once I found the desired sweet spot. There is also a plastic square sticky pad with a small tie-wrap I presume to help keep the lead secure, though I didn't need this in my case.

On plugging in, it worked perfectly and gives a pretty clear sounds. It's slightly hard to judge as I'm using this on a crudely home-made diddley bow, so there's a lot of noise from sliding the string and a little rattling from the string vibrating on the tin bridge. I'd imagine mounted in an acoustic guitar or cigarbox guitar this would pick up less of the "background" noise though.

Overall an excellent pickup for the money.

Please bear in mind this is a Piezo pickup which amplifies sound based on the passive sound wave rather than using magnetism like a standard electric guitar pickup, so you WILL get more background noise with this style of pickup. This is why it is ideal for sticking in acoustic guitar sound chambers.

10/10 will buy again!

can't remember the last time I was so happy with something so cheap

found it after looking for a pickup solution to a brass bodied dobro resonator I have. I had a load of helpful answers off people when I asked their opinion on Amazon (cheers everyone), and took the plunge given the worst that could happen was less than the cost of a cup of coffee

it arrived after its long journey from overseas and I tested it all over the body like a doctor with a stethoscope, to find the best response

the crispest sound was on the bridge, but it would destroy too much of the appearance, so I put it on the lower bout of the soundboard, as it picked up more bass

the sound is kinda distorted and screwy, but in line with the resonator sound I wanted from classic blues

no pre-amp means I actually have to make the effort to use the knobs on my amplifier, which was a useful education in itself

I am able to produce world-destroying feedback at will, but suspect a brass guitar with an aluminium dish in it was always going to do that. The output jack fits exactly in a circle by one of the f-holes so if I took it off no one will ever know

love it - if it was only available for £50 I would still be happy with it

I can't complain. It cost me less than a pint with free postage which was pretty prompt for the distance! Its not the best sound ever, a little crunchy/distorted but, sounds kinda cool. For what I was after it is spot on. If you're after studio quality then this provably isn't for you but, well worth the money.

Does the job for Cigar Box Guitar making, use a glue gun to stick it in a bottle cap, gives it a nice sound.
