Format:Audio CD
I picked this up during a recent bout of nostalgia, a mate and I were reminiscing about seeing the band at the Albert Hall sometime in the winter of 88/89. Rather than go for one of the many `best of' types collections, I selected this mid price double live acoustic session.
This was a great selection, the record includes all of the `hits' and singles that I remember from the band when they were in their pomp and a number of tracks that are new to me.
For a live record the sound is very good with a clean mix and audience noise suitably low. Although the headline is acoustic, some electrics creep in from time to time, but fits comfortably. Julianne Regan's vocal and Tim Bricheno's guitar dominate proceedings and work well together. There are plenty of highlights but the late 80 & early 90 singles are the standouts for me, a splendid version of `In the Clouds', a rousing `Every Angel' and audience favourite `Never Promise (Anyone forever)'.
Fantastic fun and a great price, buy it.

exceptional acoustic set by the band . good quality sound and some superb guitar and vocals. my only disappointment was the guitar solo on scarlet it was not in keeping with the original song.

I'd forgotten about the band until a colleague who knew I'd been into the Eves years ago asked me to lend her a copy of 'Scarlet'. I did so, and it set me wondering what they'd done in the last 20 years. I chanced upon this whilst serching Amazon and being a fan of (recorded) live music, I'm glad I did - I'd already put the two Fairy Light Nights CDs into my basket and finding this (which for the unaware is a 2-CD package of those two albums under a different name) saved me a fair amount of cash! As to the content, it's what I expected, sensibly sticking to a majority of back catalogue from the Bricheno period. Julianne's voice is what made the Eves, and it's in fine fettle here. The liner notes are interesting but nothing at all to do with the content, but that's my only gripe. If you like Julianne's live performance and you didn't buy the 2 cd's separately, you won't be wasting your money on this.
