This CD is soooooooooooo gooooooooood!!
If you like Django Reinhardt but with a slightly modern feel this is for you. For both traditionalists and modernists these musicians are the business with Joscho being such a magician on the guitar - listen to those breakneck speed fretboard runs!!!!

Joscho Stephan is undoubtedly the finest exponent of gypsy/swing jazz guitar in the world.
He is the most exciting guitarist to see live with his trio of his father, Gunter Stephan on rhythm guitar and Max Schaff on bass. On this performance we also have Sebastian Reiman on violin, Johannes Zink on Rhythm guitar and Leonard Gincberg on percussion giving the sound even more of a 'Hot Club' feel.

What you hear on this CD is what you hear live - wonderful uplifting music!!

INSANE SPEED, Crazy Swing from a RISING STAR! 8 Feb. 2011
By Ed G - Published on Amazon.com
Joscho Stephan is one of the hottest up and coming guitarists of our time. I say "Up and Coming" because I think people will be listening to his CDs for the next 100 years! If you like gypsy jazz, this kid will blow your mind. He is probably the FASTEST gypsy jazz guitarist EVER! Now, because of that, I remember what my jazz guitar teacher told me years ago-"When you try to play a lot of notes, you tend to slip into what is comfortable for you, which diminishes the 'improvisational' aspect of your solos". With that said, you hear him repeat a lot of phrases (AT MIND BLOWING TEMPOS) and some might be put off by that. Not me. I can appreciate that not everyone is going to be virtuosic in EVERY solo. Like 'we' guitarists like to say, "Man, sometimes you just wanna hear somebody SHRED!"

If I may, i would call this album a compendium on GYPSY SHRED! This guy is maniac-ally fast! I enjoyed it and if you enjoy hearing gypsy jazz at break-neck tempos, you will too.

PS-the album does have a few ballads. :-)

Joscho is the best! 9 May 2013

Imagine the most beautiful, soulful, virtuoso gypsy jazz style guitar playing, with the lead guitarist breaking effortlessly into double, triple, and quadruple timing, and you have Joscho Stephan. His playing can be light and fun and flippant. It can be slow and solemn and somber. And my goodness, it can be ferociously fast and intense - a rapidfire splatter of decorated arpeggios somehow always resolving perfectly with the chord changes of each song he improvises over.

This album is absolutely worth the asking price. I'd recommend it to anyone, whether you're a judicious gypsy jazz fan, or someone who wants incredibly awesome music to put on over dinner with company to make everyone feel more joyful and energetic!
