I bought this laptop to replace my 3 year old Medion laptop and I have to say I'm really happy with it so far. The hard drive is large, with the 6GB of RAM and fast processer meaning it can handle multi-tasking some fairly resource intensive programs with ease. Windows 7 looks great too, although it really isn't much different to Vista to use. I'm not a fan of computer games but I saw on reviews on other sites that you would need a seperate graphics card to play. To test it I downloaded a couple of demos - COD 4 and NFSW - both played perfectly which may help some people.

There are a couple of poor aspects, one being the extremely short battery life when multi-tasking, it doesn't bother me too much as I use it at home but may be an issue if you need to use on the move. Also it only has one speaker which is poor quality, again I use external speakers so not too big an issue.

Can't give it 5/5 as it isn't perfect, but I always thought I would be buying a 4/5 laptop with this and didn't want to pay double the price for the extra star. Highly recommended.

I really did my homework on finding a good enough laptop for my usage, and this has far exceeded what I expected for under £500! (inc delivery)

There is a review about the wireless internet being a problem, I can say that with this laptop it hasn't had a single problem once.

I downloaded a few games to test out the graphics and the performance.

The Windows Experience Index scores are:
6.9 for both processor and ram.
4.5 for graphics
3.9 for gaming graphics
5.9 for hard disk.

The battery life is good, it was estimated to last around 3 hours with me really putting it through its paces with running multiple programs and sound, so battery life is not an issue. Had 50% left after around 1.5 - 2 hours before I plugged it back in.
This computer switches between programs like no other laptop I have been on before. I ran football manager, the monopoly facebook game and youtube all at the same time and it still changed between them with no delays (very impressive in my eyes)

Amazon delivered on time and the packaging was really neat.

Good laptop, I would recommend it to anyone who wasn't looking for a laptop specifically for gaming with high graphics. It runs WoW and FM no problem.

Verified Purchase
Delivered ahead of time stated and i'm very happy indeed. Bought this laptop for internet use and download photo's from my camera, etc. It's very fast indeed, it doesn't seem as solidly built as previous models i've owned but you could say that about everything these days ! It feels lighter than previous models and the keys are very flat with gaps, so I would advise getting a key board protector as I can foresee problems with crumbs etc getting underneath. I haven't tried the webcam as yet so I can't comment on quality etc. It's has a very fast start up and shutdown, even with updates ! If you're looking for a very fast laptop that won't break the bank I would definately recommend this one.

I bought this laptop to replace my old desktop pc as it was a bit power hungry and starting to show it's age. Having deliberated for a while on exactly what I wanted from a new laptop, I came to the conclusion that I wasn't looking to play high spec pc games as I prefer console gaming nowadays but I wanted to use it for music/movies/internet browsing etc. There are quite a few high spec machines on the market from various manufacturers which can make choosing the right laptop a mind boggling experience, in the end though there isn't much to choose between them so for me it came down to battery life and price. This Acer covers both areas well with the 6 cell li-ion battery lasting between 3-4 hours in balanced mode and considerably more in power saver mode (although this does make the screen rather dark) and the price is superb value considering you get superb build quality, an iCore 5 processor, 6gb ddr3 ram, 500gb hdd, dvd super multi dual layer drive, micro sd card port, hdmi port, 3 usb ports, hd led lcd screen, bluetooth built in and a good webcam, all finished in a carbon fiber style black shell.

A few other points with regards to usability, the mousepad is one of the best I've used with an excellent area to the right where you can scroll up and down with total control much easier than having to use the scroll bar on screen. Lastly the in built Wi-Fi is amazingly strong for a laptop. You will do well to find a better laptop for the money at the moment!

I bought this laptop to replace my old and rather slow, 4 year old Acer. I was very pleased with Acer, so especially chose another one. I spent a little time checking out the various Acer laptops and decided on this one due to its 6GB RAM and i5 Intel Core processor, which make it pretty fast - I often have many web browser tabs open, MS Office documents and Photoshop at the same time, and switch between them constantly: this laptop copes fine so far.

My only slight frustration with this laptop is that it only has 3 usb sockets, which can at times be quickly filled up (mouse, printer, external-HD, usb stick etc). Also the location of the usb sockets doesn't seem to have been thought out very well - there's one on the left and two on the right hand sides. If you are using a separate mouse, like I do, whatever is in the right hand usb sockets, often gets in the way, which can be annoying . With my old Acer, 2 usb sockets were positioned at the back which was much tidier for things which remain connected. But this is only a minor issue with an otherwise very good laptop, so I have giving it a 5 star rating.

To me, speed is what I was looking for, without paying the earth; and I think I've found it. I was also surprised to see that some other Acer laptops which to me appeared to be slower, actually cost more than this, so I would certainly recommend this one!!!
