A great little netbook. Having used single-core variants the dual-core processor makes for a much better user experience, especially when coupled with a RAM upgrade (more on this later).

The keyboard is very useable for it's size, and the touchpad is very responsive. The touchpad accepts gesture-based input for operations like zooming and scrolling and whilst it takes a bit of getting used to it does come in handy.

The power supply comes in the form of a 'wall-wart' with a reasonably long cable. Its a universal transformer with detachable pin assembly for different countries, although only the UK assembly is included (it may be possible to purchase different country assemblies elsewhere).A nice feature, whether intentional or not, is that the wall-wart can be plugged into the mains socket with the bulk of the transformer either extending up or down. This means that it should be able to plug it in without fouling anything.

A word on the memory upgrade, it's more involved that normal laptops. You need to remove the keyboard by releasing latches along the top and then remove several screws from beneath where the keyboard was (these are labelled 'Door'). Finally you need to turn the laptop over and prise a plastic door off to gain access to the memory slot. I had to use much more force than feels necessary to do this which is very disconcerting!!! There are YouTube videos available but they aren't particularly clear.

In all I'm very pleased with the netbook and would highly recommend it to others.

I actually did the suggested package that Amazon have for this model, although I might like to add I had to pay an extra 99p for my Acer! The bag also comfortably contains the unit (but not the lead) without any problem.

It's my first netbook so I've got no expert summary of its capability compared with others. The webcam works fine and the Wordpad functions okay too. Not too sure about the internet though but that might be more to do with my modem than anything. It also seems to give you little choice but to accept the Mcafee virus trial as you turn it on and get going.

I used the memory chip that is suggested when you buy this machine on this site. It does work but, as the first reviewer says, it is very tricky to complete. I used the Youtube video to sort this out. If you do, watch it all the way through first, take your time with it and be prepared to scratch the keyboard and (especially) the back of the machine. The videos make it look easy to snap off the keyboard, battery and back compartment but that's because once you've forced it open, it seems to weaken the unit and it's much easier to open up the access after you've done it once. My recommendation is that only go for the expansion if you really will need it. I'm not sure I did and kind of regret doing it, especially as it most likely invalidates any warranty or guarantee in the future if something else goes wrong. I'm convinced that the mouse response is a bit sluggish, certainly compared to my laptop, but that may be the case with all netbooks?

Why Acer have sold it with a 1GB ram when they could've just slotted in the 2GB card for a couple of quid and got even more of a competitive advantage is beyond me! That's why they get the 4 stars and not 5, because it would save the bother of having to do all this sort of stuff..

As I'm more used to a normal laptop, it will take some while getting use to the smaller, compact notebook. It certainly looks the business! And if you can get it at below the £230 mark then I think it'll be worth it.

Hope this review helps!

This netbook looks and feels great. The keyboard is easy to type on and the touchpad is nice. The hardware is pretty good and should allow for punchy performance (although 2GB would be nicer).

However, Win7 seems to be painfully slow and unstable. Application take a long time to load and even internet browsing makes the laptop's fan scream. It's frozen a few times too, requiring a complete reboot.

Android seems like a good idea, however, it seems like an afterthought that has been retro-fitted last minute. It's ugly and transitioning to Windows feels clunky. The mouse pointer doesn't even work correctly (moved faster vertically that horizontally). Doesn't seem useful in any way.

Installed Ubuntu, which works well and performs nicely.
