Still life in the PDA with the Acer, 7 May 2007
This review is from: Acer N311 (N300 Series) Traditional PDA. 400MHz, 64M RAM, 128M ROM, BT, WLAN (Electronics)
Most people seem to have moved away from the PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) in the direction of the SmartPhone. However, I believe the PDA still offers more flexibility and computing power and there is still a wealth of thirdparty software out there to choose from. My ageing IPAQ needed replacing and I looked around at the much diminished options. Having read a couple of magazines and checked out reviews online I decided to go for the Acer N311 via Amazon. It provides more than enough power for a powerful time management client like Pocket Informant and also runs MP3 player software with ease. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and I've been able to connect it to my home network very easily.
Build quality is excellent and the screen is fantastic. It is VGA, bit of a rarity with PDAs, and detail is way superior to my old IPAQ and many of the current batch of PDAs. Battery life seems good. Also comes with a cradle that allows you to view the PDA, when docked, in landscape mode which is certainly useful for me. Another big plus is that there is a USB port on the docking cradle which facilitates experimenting with connecting a range of USB devices e.g. a keyboard.
Have only had the Acer for a week or so so can't comment as yet on reliability but otherwise a definite for your short list if a PDA is what you are looking for.

Acer N311 PDA, 24 Jan 2011
This review is from: Acer N311 (N300 Series) Traditional PDA. 400MHz, 64M RAM, 128M ROM, BT, WLAN (Electronics)
A great device with a good screen. Possibly a bit dated now, but I miss mine that "went missing" on a night out in Manchester.
Quicker than a lot of Windows Mobile phones with higher specs (presumably because of being phones as well as PDA's) if you're not bothered about having phone functionality on a pocket computer then this device is everything you'll likely need for PIM/research tools on the go.

The pocket PC is great, but Acer technical support is useless, 16 April 2008
This review is from: Acer N311 (N300 Series) Traditional PDA. 400MHz, 64M RAM, 128M ROM, BT, WLAN (Electronics)
I've I've been a pocket PC user for many years. This is the forth I've owned and by far the best. Excellent screen and very powerful. Can't recommend it enough.
Unfortunately I can't say the same for the company Acer. There was a problem with the software, so I contacted Acer technical support to try and get some help. They were shockingly rude, and simply refused to help.
In summary, buyers beware - if you get one that works you'll be very pleased with it, but if there's a problem Acer won't want to know.
