I bought this for the wife as she wanted a 7" tablet so was this or the Flyer.

Having had it for a few weeks I know she loves it and having played with it I also am impressed.

The build quality is excellent, very solid. The tablet itself is very fast with the dual core processor and android 3.2 works well. These were the main reasons I bought this ahead of the Flyer (and cheaper).

It's also been upgraded by a 32gb micro sd card (sandisk) and it works absolutely fine so not sure about the other reviewer issues.

The screen is also excellent, very bright and sharp. I can only assume the other reviewer did not adjust the brightness in the settings and left the auto brightness on (which is the default).

It has closed a couple of apps once or twice but this is due to Android 3.2 teething issues and not the tablet and I'm sure an update will fix this shortly.

Excellent connections as well.

Overall very impressed and anyone thinking about a 7" tablet I would recommend.

This is a stunning little tablet, super smooth operating system (android 3.2) none of that 2.X rubbish you get on the older tablets. 3.2 is designed for tablets (unlike 2.X which is basically a modified version of what you get in a smart-phone)
Genuinely couldnt be more pleased with this tablet. Had a 160 quid Archos 70 for Christmas which was returned faulty. So glad I spent a bit more and got this one. (didn't get on amazon, I found it locally in are gos for 2. thirty)
Pros:
Super smooth OS with responsive capacitive screen
Full android market
HDMI output
Rich graphics
Handles multitasking well
Cons: genuinely none in the week or so of using it.
One thing, I bought one of those cheap 7" keyboards with case you see advertised on amazon (originally intended for the Archos) but it doesnt work with this Acer. Not too bothered as the onscreen keyboard is fine. (if anyone knows how to get an external kb to work with this Acer please feel free to leave a comment!)
In summary and in agreement with the other reviewers here, this is a really nice tablet. If you can get it for under 2fifty you'll be getting a bargain.
Lastly, if you want to stream media content from your pc forget the clear-fi app, try ES file explorer (free from market)
Thanks for reading. Enjoy!

I love it. It is the perfect size and light. It looks pretty and seems solid. It's really fast at opening things and quite easy to figure out how to use. It hasn't crashed once and I've played with it all day since I got it. The screen is fine... you can adjust the brightness but it is fine on the automatic setting.

Verified Purchase
After a lot of research I bought this as it seemed to be the best 7inch tablet available at the moment. I got fed up waiting for the Kindle Fire to be available in the UK, and got a good price for the Acer from Amazon Uk. - 232 pounds
I bought a soft case straight away to protect it.
The build quality of the A100 is very good. Before buying I had looked at the Acer website and had downloaded the Acer usb windows driver and the Acer A100 manual, both of which I think are useful.
Setting up was reasonable easy once I was able to type the password for my broadband correctly, the software keyboard is tricky to use, ie to press the correct key.
I have bought the following apps, thumb keyboard, this is much better than the supplied keyboard, but you still have to be accurate with your pressing, I bought the full version of Documents to Go and Pro Office Suite. For this to become more than just a toy I need to have a "killer" use for it. I use spreadsheets a lot and I had hoped this might be the killer use, but typing numbers accurately is difficult, basically the software keyboards take up too much of the screen when using a spreadsheet. I am looking at the wireless keyboards as a possible solution. I have got a stylus and that does help a lot, and also a screen protector.
I also wanted to pay videos on the tablet, I usually convert my films into mpeg format which is not supported in the Android operating system.
I purchased Foxreal Video converter for my desktop which has an amazing range of conversions and made some clips that play on the Acer A100. However the files are much bigger than the corresponding mpeg version and take a long time to convert.

Had this tablet for 4 weeks. 1st one was returned immediately, because the right earphone channel was not working. Replacement works fine.

Overall I would say that this is the best 7" tablet available at this price point. However, it is by no means the perfect tablet. Its biggest drawback is the screen, which whilst being perfectly usable, is a decade behind the displays found on premium devices. I suppose this is where the money has been saved, so you pay your money and take your compromises. The viewing angles are pretty bizarre and the default "automatic" brightness setting is dull and washed out. Unless you are desperate to save battery, maxing-out the brightness is a must. (I had hoped that when my replacement tablet arrived, the screen might be better, but alas no). Some people may not find the screen an issue, but having spent so long using ipads & iphones, I found this screen to be a big disappointment.

The battery life is short, but for me this isn't an issue. Charging every day or every other day doesn't really matter. The only other gripe is the capacitive "Home" button on the bezel. This is far too easily pressed by accident when handling the device. This problem has since been mitigated now the unit is in a case (the button is now recessed).

So, if you absolutely must have a fully featured 7" Honeycomb tablet right now, this is the one to buy. However, if I could have, I would have waited until the next generation are released in 2012 - hopefully with better screens and batteries for this price.
