I am a total freek when it comes to purchasing a new gadget such as a laptop, and I did A LOT of research on what components I wanted in it, what size it was, and what the appearance was like.

This laptop is excellent. It is very quick, with it's T6600 processor, and 4mb RAM. It also has a dedicated graphics card, which helps complex graphics run smoother and quicker. The 320gb storage is also massive. I know there are laptops with 500gb out there, and I was concerned that it wouldn't be enough since I have an HD camera and plan to store vidoes and photos on it, but it's coping no problem - I have over 200gb left. Be aware that when you look at the memory in the file directories, it will say x gb remaining of 288 available. Not sure why, but think it's due to formatting and partitioning etc. Not a big deal to me and I suspect will be similar depending on whatever size you get.

Appearance is really nice. The top is a shiny blue (yes, prone to finger prints but so what - they can be wiped off). The keyboard and surrounding is a matt grey - it feels robust and no nonsense. Build quality is probably 4.5 out of 5. There is a tiny tiny bit of creak on mine, but 4.5 out of 5 says it all - ie it's still very very good.

I'd recommend this laptop to anyone willing to listen and I'm one of the most pedantic and fussy of shoppers on this kind of thing.

Hope that helps.

Highly recommended as a good quality and fast performance laptop, spec chosen to assist my son through his degree course, so it has to handle some demanding software. Having surveyed the market for a spec that can handle photo and video editing as well as an array of graphics demanding games at the best cost we chose this machine. Not dissapointed and very happy with the quality as well i.e. very well put together with a really smart modern outer shell (although the gloss finish does attract the fingerprints).

I am delighted with this laptop. It was easy to set up with my current wireless connection, it only took me a few minutes. I am delighted with the new windows 7 home premium operating system. The keys have a nice chunkey feel to them and there is a numeric keypad which I find useful. The processer is fast and there is loads of memory. I went for an Acer because it was reccomended by Which Mag, and I am not disappointed.

This is my first Notebook, so I've had to get used to using a tracker pad for the first time. This one works well with the exception of the scrolling bar section which is a bit hit and miss. This is easily overcome by using the up and down keys instead.
This machine boots up much faster than my desktop PC so it is being used in preference, especially when I need quick access. I find the keyboard easy to use and like the feel of the keys. My only real criticism is the thin sound, but it sounds great when plugged into the TV via an HDMI lead.
I'm very impressed with Windows7, which is both quicker and more user friendly than my old XP and it's nice to have my photo's as a permanent Desktop background.
The screen is good with vibrant colours and I like the overall size. For the money I find it hard to fault.

My first laptop after several Desktop PCs and it is excellent.
Very quick start up and set up was easy though a bit of previous PC knowledge would help.
I prefer a mouse to the touchpad and bought a wireless mouse which works brilliantly.
Acer make initial back ups and a recovery disk easy to burn.
Immediate wireless connection to my main PC and internet connection very fast.
Windows 7 is great - no one should worry about moving up from Vista.
All in all a first class product and I am well pleased with it.

Not sure if this is a review of the laptop or Windows 7.

Either way you can chose with complete confidence.

First it's a big thanks to Amazon for prompt delivery as promised.

Windows 7 is an enormous relief after the sluggish take-all-day grief inflicted by Vista.

Setting up was a real breeze. I connected everything up to the laptop and the only hitch was finding new drivers for a rather elderly Epson scanner. No problem. No driver disc was needed for the printer and the internet connection was simply a matter of entering the previous Netgear login code. Up and away!

Having had an Acer machine previously I had no hesitation in sticking with the same brand.

Absolutely delighted!

There are not ventilation opening at bottom of the laptop so it getting hot and shutdown even if only windows is running. there is a grip but no holes in it. Memory clock is wrong there are 500mHz but should be 800mHz(wrong BIOS-corect one unavailable).I wrote to Acer a week ago but did not respond. I have the laptop for 9 months and i want to send it back to seller. My friend has the same laptop and lack of ventilation opening as well. I will never buy any acer again.
